The metal cover to the right and left of the pilot's shoulders were also mounted.
These are etched parts from the kit. Painted with Tamiya "semi-gloss-black" and a drop of light gray.
After that the edges were chipped.

Ah, by the way, this is my template for the color scheme.

Continue with the upper tension tower.

The kit plastic part was sanded considerably thinner.
I also adjusted the shape so that the profile was thinned towards the rear - more or less like an airfoil.

The tensioning tower was sawed in at the top with the resin saw about 2 tenths of a millimeter and the etched part for attaching the tensioning ropes was glued into this slot with super glue.

Missing mounting holes were completed with a 0.2mm drill bit.

The kit includes a very nice resin pulley.
This is refined a bit and anchored at the top of the tension tower, at the last hole with a piece of copper wire.

The tension tower is painted in the same way as the engine cowling.
Primer in light gray, over this painted with Mr. Metalcolor aluminum and over that a layer of Tamiya semi-gloss-black with a drop of light gray.
A little bit of chipping..... more at the front of the tension tower, where wind and weather have greater influence.
With 0,1mm thin silver wire, the eyelets are shown.

From top to bottom, the lower tension tower.

The same procedure, the material was ground considerably thinner.
Here also, a contour similar to a wing contour was created.
The plastic parts from the box also had to be significantly reworked.

It took quite a bit of work to build a tension tower that is very close to the original.
The following pictures describe the way of work.

Scratch-built was the motto.
Waste plastic from Wingnut Wings, Evergreen Profile and brass tubes were my material suppliers.

The result satisfied me very much (which is rather rare)

The painting was done in the same way as for the upper tension tower.

Here again for comparison, the original.

The turnbuckles were made from 0.4mm brass tubes and 0.10mm silver wire.
The tensioning ropes are 0.10mm fishing line.

The following pictures show the course of the steering and tensioning ropes.
The landing gear can also be seen there - but more about that soon.

That's it for today - I thank you for "looking in" -  bye.

Magic! It's probably done with mirrors and smoke... 😀

Awesome work!
