I apologise for the lack of progress, I had to go to the hospital due to my back injury flaring up. Hopefully I'll have something to show off later today.

Thank you Alexis, fortunately I've been prescribed a bunch of medication and at least one is working!

So, I figured I was done with the wingtips so after a final sand touched up the paint:

But look closer and you can see I was a bit hasty...

Say it with me, folks! "Putty! Sand! Repeat!"

I hope that the painkillers are helping with your back Zac - nothing worse than constant back pain.

Looking at the wingtip I agree that you may have been a bit hasty - but that is what primer is for. Not too far to go though - just grit your teeth and sand, fill, sand, etc!

Stephen.

Thanks gents! It's looking much better now.

I hope that the painkillers are helping with your back Zac - nothing worse than constant back pain.
It's a combination of meds and careful pillow placement while sleeping. I'm getting used to it and fortunately I haven't had any further "twinges".

I hate to admit it among such company but I don't use primer! I have some on backorder at my LHS though.

The depressed lines in the seam area may not be your fault, Zac.  I don't usually use solvent based putty for that very reason.  It shrinks as the solvent evaporates, which can take a month or so.  I use thick CA glue or Milliput epoxy putty.

Thanks Ken, but in this case I think it was down to poor application and excessive haste! The bigger issue was the "blobs" of unsanded filler around the affected areas, which has now been taken care of to my satisfaction (I don't want to get bogged down seeking perfection):

The apparently poor paint job on the lower right wing is actually my shadow!

Looking good, Zac! At least you have paint on! And please take care of your back, it's the only one you've got! I do like the colour of your linen, though! Regards, Marc.

On top of that, yesterday my wife was told she's a close contact of a COVID-19 case... :-\

Great looking work, Zac!  I too 'love' finding more things to sand once the paint is on.
There are only two states to be in:  Queensland and blotto.
