You have been here before Rick - and recovered. Follow the very sound advice given above, put it to one side for a time and then come back and carry out the repairs needed to finish it. I am sure that a very good model can rise from the bits on your bench - don't give up now.

Stephen.

Oh no!  It looks like it is about to be shipped to France.
Take heart though.  They all look like clean breaks and you might well be back up and running in the space of an afternoon.

Hi Rich,
Tragedy, but you can recover this.
Here's how 'Barker's' Camel I built arrived in Canada.

Here's the model after I got it returned to me in the UK and I repaired it.
Sent back to Canada and arrived intact the second time.

Don't waste it, go for it,

Mike

Rick, I also think you may try repairing that SE5a. My experience is that before the rigging stage it is feasible. Go for it, my friend!

SSSSHHHH*****TTTT!!!!!!

But on the second view, it’s looking like it could be fixed! Don’t bin it, please! Leave it aside until your anger has disappeared, the. Have a fresh look at it!
I wish you all the best with it!

Thanks so much for all of the support. I am going to throw it in the box and forget about it for a while. Oddly I am not too upset as this seems to be theme for Me recently. I guess I have become comfortably Numb  8) If worse comes to worse I will saw off the rear fuselage and do a Wedge with the figure  ;D

What was it caught you out? I'm interested as I have this kit in my stash, a heads up would be useful

I am sure you will have No Problem with this kit Richard! I was one strut away from done, then things went wrong. Started to sag, another strut came loose, superglue applied, broke an interplane strut in half, then the whole upper wing separated! At that point the floor seemed like a good place to throw the Model  :'( The resulting damage is evident.

So an interplane strut problem then - did the cabane struts give way as well?

Yes, once one went they all started to fail. This really would be no issue if I had a biplane jig!

OK, that's really useful. I shall see if I can firmly attach the cabane struts to the fuselage sides at an early stage.

It sounds like you got caught out in the 'balancing the wing on matchsticks' trap

Hi Rick,

You may want to take a look here:

https://www.hobby.dn.ua/en/laser-model-graver-lmg-wooden-building-berth-for-172148132-scales-p-78586.html

https://www.hobby.dn.ua/en/?search-text=LMG+BB-02

I don't know if they are available in the US, but as we know, there are ways to work around this.  ;)

I have a couple of sets to assemble the V/1500 later on. The are quit sturdy and and easy to use and put together.

And then there's also this:

https://www.scalemates.com/kits/sram-t-02-biplane-assembly-jig--365411

I don't know about availability though, just this on Scelemates under 'Marketplace'

There are more brands, but on those my memory fails.

Willem

so sorry to see this rick, it was looking so good but as others have said it still looks salvageable. Good move to stick it in a box and come back to it when the negative memories have gone. I look forward to seeing what you start next
