Albatros D.III Oeffag 1:48 Eduard
« on: May 11, 2021, 07:34:31 AM »
Hi.
My first project and first plane. Austro-hungarian Albatros with plenty interesting camouflage patterns, plywood areas and not very advanced rigging.

Started with cockpit – first experiments with woodgrain, some scratch (Schwarzlose barrels from syringe needles, seat cushion form modellers clay and hygienic tissue), adventures with metal paint. I decided to make plywood seat as reference photos showed (sorry for wasting Your time, Alexis  :-[).

The parts are well-fitted, very soft plastic is easy to work with. I am almost ready to close the fuselage.

Martin.

Nice work on the cockpit and engine. I recently built this kit and strongly recommend pinning the lower wings to fuselage attachments. The kit's tongue and groove attachment is way too shallow to provide sufficient strength.

Thanks all of You for response. Rob, thank You for warning - those tongues are definitely insufficient and need enhacement.

Thanks for all kind comments. I put the artbox only to show which model I have chosen. But I'm going to replicate the plane from Flik 61J, used by Ludwig Hautzmayer - number 153.32. It is not a camouflage pattern offered by Eduard. So I will try to use and cut a little box decals, bigger marks like stripes will be painted.

This looks like a nice and joyful start for you, as the pretty cockpit and the well made engine tell us. And I think they could be right, good models don’t lie  :)
