Airbrush got one good work out today , parts primed with the fuselage and wheels getting a coat of silver grey . Wings I sprayed a gloss white in prep for the lozenge decals . Struts are paint with the same mix I used for the pit . Cowl is sprayed white ( many , many coats ) and the prop is under way as well .

Alexis,
It’s great to see this build come together. How can keep up this pace? The quality of your
build isn’t suffering from it, either.  Thanks for sharing.

The primer coat looks great Alexis. Your filling and sanding was obviously done well. I Love the prop. What technique are you using to paint the lamination layers?

Morning Kevin and Rick ,

I think what it is Kevin is I get jack up on java through out the day with an outcome of me vibrating around the house !  ;)

Sanding and filling didn't go as planned Rick , on the underside there is a ghost effect which I can't couldn't get off . And I'm chalking that up to there being to much formaldahyde (sp) in the resin . Some weathering will conceal it a bit when I get to that stage .

Yes , the prop is a base coat of Tamiya wooden deck tan which was sprayed weeks ago and clear coated so this is fully dry and cured . Masked off the lams and then sprayed Tamiya flat brown . Once this is dried it will get a dull coat and then the work with pencil crayons begins . I have one blade which the lam's didn't turn out over well do too my messed up masking practices . This I can fix with the pencils .

Weathering is our friend.

Nice work, Alexis.

Which primer do you use on resin?
On plastic parts I like Alclad (it etches a bit into the plastic surface so very robust) but on resin it could hold better.
There is some special resin primer by Gunze (dark red label) but I can't find it in the shops in europe.

BTW: for white metal parts I found a primer in a DIY store. I needs a while to get really hard, but then I was not able to remove it.

Cheers,
Frank

Danke Ken  :)

Frank , no special prime for the resin or plastic . I used Tamiya XF paint thinned with lacquer thinner ( their brand ) . The lacquer thinner will give " bite " to the surface . before I paint white metal parts I but on a coat of future first and then I start priming away . This will give tooth bonding the paint to the surface .

Haven't forgotten about this one , need the paint to dry and some clear coating which brings me to the next step . Spraying the white on the tail , black is next .

Prop lam's are done and clear coated for decals later on . The spinner will be sprayed white . I was going with black but found that it really won't look right . Besides there is not to be a spinner . I just at carving !

Templates for the top lozenge are ruff cut out and will be trimmed more before applying .

Alexis,
That's a nice bit of progress. It shouldn't be too long before this bird gets it's wings.
