Meng and Roden Fokker DR1: Jasta 4, Jasta 6, and Jasta 11
« on: September 12, 2020, 08:31:12 AM »
So with the SPADS out of the way I am adding another Dual Build. I will be doing Kirschsteins Jasta 6 Striped Optical Illusion and a more obscure Jasta 4 DR1. Not sure which one will be which at this stage. By the way I will still be working on the CSM Nieuport and Roden Pfalz also  ::) After Market stuff includes Aviattic PE, Cowling, and Seat, Eduard and Part PE, and finally a WNW URII engine!

I gotta tell ya Rick:  You're a modeling machine.  Looking forward to seeing these two unfold under  your skillful hands.  Gonna be a fun pair for sure.

Great to have another MENG build along Rick!

Will be interesting to see how they compare.. is there a big difference from what you see in the boxes?

Straight at it again! No risk that you lose any of your modelling skills due to inactivity!

Following with keen interest Rick. Should be a ton of fun putting these kits together in tandem.
Cheers,

Two more! How do you do it Rick? I have difficulties enough building one model at a time, not four!

I will still tag along though if you do not mind - some of your techniques are well worth stealing er borrowing.

You need it complicated? ???
At first three SPADs at once, then Nieuport and Pfalz and now in parallel two Dr.I ?
Cool! 8)
I'm sure you will have a lot of fun and we will see a nice result.

Have fun with this new project!

In an abstract way after finishing the SPADS and adding these two I am still down one from Five to Four  ::)

So, I have started cleaning up some of the Major components and comparing to drawings. I am waiting for Ray to approve My request to use some WS drawings with the parts overlaid so today I will just post some comparison photos of the Major parts. First the Reference I am using:

The wings: Roden parts on Top.

Next the tail surfaces, rudder, and axle wing. Roden parts on the left other than the Aileron which has the Roden Part on the bottom:

More close ups of the wings: Meng above Roden.

Lower wings: Meng above Roden.

Right and left fuselage Halves. Roden on the top for each:

Obviously the Meng parts are more detailed. Both kits Match the Drawings in 1/32nd scale featured in Fokker DR1 Jagdstaffeln by GvW and Windsock, with a couple of exceptions on the Roden kit.
