A quick update.
The big challenge so far is the graphics, but the cowling is looming near!
I am using some PE details from Tom's Modelworks - like PE control horns. Here you can see where I reinforced the elevator to the horizontal stab in the center with a strip of metal. The actual planes have a hinge point there. Later I added PE control wire exits.

Now, about those graphics. The 'God of the North' graphic on the decal sheet looks nothing like what I think the actual one does. I found a picture of Jacobs plane on the IPMS Stockholm? website. There, someone took the picture and enhanced it to create an accurate graphic. I believe this is a good depiction of the real one. I took the image and made a decal from it, but I only have clear decal film, so I made a mask for the background to place the decal over. I traced the image using my Silhouette cutter, along with masks for the crosses - that thing is coming in handy. Now I painted a white base where the crosses are, and where the God graphic goes. I've placed the masks and now getting ready to paint black.

On to the cowling. I ordered an Aviattic cowling - very nice piece. Unfortunately, it's just a few thousandths of an inch too small for the CSM motor, so I'll be machining one. Haven't figured out how to handle the small rivet detail yet. Just getting to that point will be an accomplishment.

I'll be focused on the painting for a few days - if I have some paint I want to use.
Till next time... Keep on modeling.
