If you look on thier website and scope out the instructions for each of the variants, each variant has it's own cowling panels unique that variant.  If one is trying to make a variant different than what came in the box, it will be difficult as the pieces to accomplish that task are not in the box.  i don't know if this is what you meant about the panels.  I hope to get mine this week.

Best

Yes, but not all of the vents are perforated, so you're left with either painting the rear black, or very carefully perforating them to match the others.
HMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!  Well, I got my Fokker DVII today, 12/03/12, I ordered it after I ordered my Sopwith Tripe, which I have not yet received.  I imagine that Dave was inundated with orders for the Fokker and put orders for other aircraft on the back burner or something.  I am at work, so I haven't had a chance to fondle the plastic, but; I can't wait to get home.

Until that time

The infamous DVII louvres and panels confusion that I can never keep straight. When mine arrives (via Sanee Clauz apparently) I will have to look to get this clear in my noggin.

Hello,
Having taken a real sabbatical from modeling lately, I was glad to see the three get released all at once, and buying the OAW D.VII has gotten my juices running again.  I also got decal sheet #3--nobody has done Thom's D.VII before and the U-10 is a nice one to hopefully see someday.  I am a sucker for the early OAW Fokkers...
And as far as panels and louvers go, I am fairly certain (but still guessing  :) )there will be resin aftermarket items that will address the REALLY esoteric and one-off versions we've all seen in case the ones in the kit just don't match what we need.

Mine is still in transit (OAW version), and I'm looking forward to comparing the kit nose area with a very clear photo of the front end of the a/c I'll be modelling. I'm expecting to do some nasal surgery, and with the photo and serial number I'm guardedly confident that I can get it right...maybe...sort of!  ;)
Cheers!

While I'm dropping shameless hints with the family for one (okay, two) of the D.VIIs, I went ahead and ordered the Kagero 3D book in anticipation that I receive the kit(s).

I don't have any references for the D.VII so if this book is as useful as I found their Dr.I volume, I should be in good shape when building the model.

Cheers,

Chris

When did the DVII book come out? Gotta get that one too as I found the DR1 book excellent  as well.

I received my copy last week, and it's every bit as good as the DR.I volume.  The two major differences are that it has an expanded text section, and no 3D anaglyphs or glasses.  The CGI artwork is beautiful!

On a related note, I'm fond of the Rampant Bison emblem that's on Pheon sheets #48005 and 72004, Jasta 40 Under Carl Degelow.  I'd sure like to see it in 1/32!  All I would really need is the bison itself, since the Albatros D.VII includes a Jasta 40 scheme.  If someone has a good quality scan of just the bison, I could enlarge it and ALPS print it.

Steve

It came out earlier this year Steve. I picked my copy up online from The Book Depository.

No shipping fees or taxes to pay, so it cost me only $22.36 to the door.

Cheers,

Chris

Chris,

Thanks very much for this lead. I  usually don't get too worked up about references now, as I have three or four shelves of them. But this one might help with my OAW DVII, so I've just ordered it from TBD. Excellent price, no taxes or shipping: thanks again!  :D
Cheers!

As I'm a pretty basic aircraft modeller, about all I really want are references that clearly show the rigging of a particular aircraft. Good as WnW instructions are, I find that their rigging diagrams just don't give me enough information in that regard.

Cheers,

Chris

That is a great price compared to what Ive seen it going for and they dont take the payment out for 21 days in case there is a shipping problem. Im a convert!!
