That are really three beauties, I don't know which one I like most.
You made a perfect job so far, I can't see a fault.

Cheers,
Frank

Thanks Frank! Very Generous!

So not a lot done on My first day back but some progress was made. I added the black shadowing to the numbers on the fuselage of the Guynemer SPAD  using decal strips.  I also applied the black X on the upper wing. Not really noticeable but I also glued the Vickers in place....on all three. And just for fun: The Aviattic Luke figure:

Good to get a Rick update, the decal strips seem like a very good way to add that the shadow round the numbers. Luke looks very dapper too!

RAGIII,
Welcome back to the work bench. Start the week small and I'm sure it will lead to some great progress
on the three builds.
                             Enjoy the day,

I am posting this photo again. Does anyone know why the center of the lower fuselage is so Much Darker than the rest of the "Ecru" painted area?  Is it painted a dark color, Metal? etc.

Decals strips is a great idea!  Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Gaz. The strips are great for a situation like this where the numbers were hard edged and straight! Had I needed to shade the rounded upper wing #2 I would have been in trouble  ::)

I would say , same as the cowl colour ? If it was metal it would be more of a gary shade . I feel it is too dark to be metal , but I could be very well be wrong . Nice job by they way  ;)

Thanks Terri! I posted the question in Aircraft Information and Questions. If No One has a better thought I plan to paint it red.

PS: Someone elsewhere suggested an "Opening". Could it be that I missed the obvious and the panel is removed?

After looking at a picture of a SPAD at the NASM web site, it looks like an oil cooler, painted black.  It has ribs or tubes on the bottom surface.  Not all SPADs had this.

Hi Rick, I downloaded the Smithsonian institute picture and increased the exposure considerably. Unfortunately Flickr isn't playing at the moment but there is definitely a grille there. The black and white war time photo has the vague suggestion of it too. When Flickr decides to play nicely again I will post it so you can see. The grille slates run lengthways.

Here you are Rick

Hope this helps resolve it.
