Hobby Craft 1/32nd SPAD XIII times Three: plus Aviattic Luke
« on: April 11, 2020, 04:04:06 AM »
So nearing completion of the Camel and figure I am starting on My next project. I am joining SPAD mania. I plan to build Three:
#1: Frank Luke 27th Aero Squadron. Using Aviattic Decals and Frank Luke figure. Doing #21 to be different
#2: Eddie Rickenbacker 94th Aero Squadron using the Kit Decals.
#3: A SPAD from Esc. SPA. 3 ( Perhaps Guynemer) but might do another.

I need to find or take New Photos of the Aviattic Decals and Parts. I will Post photos of the reference also when I get them taken.

I will keep an eye on this thread!
One day I want to put Eduards "American Eagles" edition on my bench. I guess I can learn here, which colors to use and watch a great build!

Have a lot of fun (in this crazy times),
Frank

RAGIII,
I will look forward to watching this and all the other builds of the Hobbycraft Spad. I've a few in the stash.
This is a kit that seems to have been ignored by the aftermarket world except a few bits from Aviatic and Tom's Model Works.

Rick, by any chance are you fitting an alternative windscreen to any of these aeroplanes? My kit is missing one

I can offer a Roden Nieuport style one from a SPAD VII, there might be another one in there too

Otherwise I'll make one

I will need to check and see what style My chosen subjects have. As I don't have a Photo of Lukes #21 I could perhaps fudge on that one! I have several Roden SPADS so won't need a trade. I will get back ASAP.

Your multi-builds are always worth following Rick. If I tried that I would be in a muddle before the first evening was out! I will of course being dropping by regularly to keep an ey on how you progress.

So while building three new ones I figured I would go back and fix some Major Mistakes with this one built years ago. Not sure how it will end up painted and what Markings!

Thanks Richie but Yes, Lots of errors! The wing camo is wrong, the rigging doesn't represent the double wood filled wires, and the triangle on the upper fuselage should be red, white and blue!

Three new planes on the making; well, you don’t loose time, Rick! I am keen on seeing your progress on these as I have one in the stash but couldn’t feel the motivation to think about starting it yet.
