Nothing new from my side but „Looking great!“ sorry for being so boring. I kept watching for something I could moan about, but I simply didn’t find anything.  :o

So I have begun to paint the Guynemer SPAD. I started by misting Tamiya white over the ribs. I taped off some of the ribs to represent the noticeably lighter rib tapes seen in photos. Next was a Mottled coat of Tamiya black. The next step will be a thin application of the base coat of beige.

RAGIII,
Things are really heating up in the Spad aircraft works. Thanks for the update.

Hey Rick, I just looked at my message folder and see that you responded to my offer for guns long ago. (forehead slap). Looks like Stephen already took care of your needs awhile back, sorry I dropped the ball! Your SPAD project is just awesome. Truly inspiring!

I've been missing some updates, the trio is looking fantastic. Great paint job on the first two and I'm sure the third will stand as well.
Looking forward to the completed SPADs.

Just looking forwards to more camo, Rick!
There are only two states to be in:  Queensland and blotto.

Thanks Gaz. The reason I am trying this technique on #3 is that it will be in the overall beige-ish yellow scheme. I am trying to make it a little less boring  ;D

Nice bit of black basing going on there Rick, sho8ld give you a lovely variety of tone once the main paint scheme is applied.

Thanks as always Stephen! I just finished a couple of hours applying the first of the top/base coat. One thing I am finding out is it is difficult for me to decide when enough is enough. If I err I would rather it be to the monotone side than having a blotched black look  ::)

Oh, the third one will be a nice addition to the trio with that special painting technique. I can't wait to see it with the top layer!

Cheers,
Frank

Thanks Frank. Here is the first coat. Not a great photo and there is more tonal difference than shows. Another very light coat is needed, IMHO  8)
