Looks great with the lower wing and Spandaus attached! Really coming along nicely!

Robin, you are really fast!

Note the wrong Eduard "Li" decal.
What was your way to fix it?
I guess you painted white, masked with stripes, and painted lilac?

Cheers,
Frank

Nope....I cut a spare white (Pheon Dr.I JG2) decal to pieces and patchworked the "Li" from it.
With the lozenge decals...I avoid masking like the plague. :-\

Oh yeah, I forgot the decals below - no masking prefered.
Thanks!

Finished the Albatros D.II, so back to this one.  :)

A somewhat fiddly strut construction...

And a test fit. It fits...more or less. :-\
Some adjusting needed. I let the glue cure completely before I continue.

Made new straight OAW style lifting handles from 0,3 mm brass rod.

Also finished painting the prop.

This is where I was....

4. Done...ready for brush painting now.

The rest is old fashioned "hecho a mano" brush painting with the airbrushed lines as a guide.

First dark brown...

Followed by the light tan...

Washed, decals, varnish and hub...

And that's it...

Robin :)

I really like that propellor - the colours look very realistic. The rest of the model looks pretty good too!!

Thanks guys,

I was struggling with attaching the upper wing to "the rest".
The struts are a bit flimsy and the top wing is rather chunky.
Sat on my hands until I figured out how to do this, without the whole thing collapsing. :-\
Decided to do it upside down...fixed on a piece of foamboard.

That worked pretty well....also for the landing gear. :)

Got it off the board to check whether (or not) all is straight...and out of curiosity of course.
Dry fit the prop and rudder...just to see how it all looks together. ::)

Looks okey.

It's now back on the foamboard for the (minor) rigging and underside weathering.

Thought I could finish this today, but that was over optimistic....tomorrow!  ;D

Looks beautiful!

How did you measure and adjust the spread of the outward flaring cabane struts for this one?

Also, do you use a slow setting adhesive for your strut work?

Thanks,

I measured the distance between the holes in the top wing.
Some adjusting was needed. I used Revell Contacta glue...when in place reinforced with a drop of thin CA glue.
The stuts from the wing root to the top wing were about 4 mm too long.

Was a bit of a pain to get it all done. :-\

Your Fokker looks very nice - I like it!

The stuts from the wing root to the top wing were about 4 mm too long.
Oh, I have not changed that, but my outer struts are bending now ::)
But if I shorten the inner struts, the stress on the outer one is increasing?!?
Still confused, but on  higher level 8)

On my next D.VII I will do more dry fitting!

Cheers,
Frank

Looks outstanding with the wing mounted. You used the same method ,more or less, that I used on all 5 of My 1/32nd DVII builds  8)
