While waiting for the rigging line for my Albi D.II, I made up my mind about what's next on the bench.
Very low stock of eyelets and tubes right now and since I get frowned upon for overspending by "she who is in charge"  ::)

The 1/48 Eduard D.VII (OAW) from the pile I have....for years now. I have just enough eyelets and tubes for this. :)

Scheme I like most...

Rudolf Stark's D.VII "Li" with the eyecatching lilac parts. With the WNW Halberstadt in mind...the cookie-cut lozenge will be good practise.
I heard people don't like the Eduard lozenge, so I expected the worst, but okey...not great...I expected worse.
Maybe I'll use them...maybe I use the MicroSculpt ones I have instead. Undecided.

The Eduard 4 colour lozenge...dunno  :-\

First I did...mix paint for the lilac!

Eduard shows a more pink shade, while WNW (Ronnie Bar) has a more purple/mauve shade. I like both.

Work in progress....but getting close to what I want.  8)

More soon,

Robin

Hi Robin,
good choice, the Stark's D.VII is really beautiful. So, this is the original one, shade of lilac?

I don't think that it was on the pink side.
Hope useful,
Roberto

I think, there are also colorful rendering of this machine in (I own that book):
"Fokker D. VII. - the Lethal Weapon (Legends of Aviation 3d, Band 2)"

or on title of this Kagero:

Great choice, I think I own also a Profipack allowing this markings. But before I wat to build the "Sieben Schwaben" ;)

Thanks for the interest in this build....no pressure.  ;D

I just did a daylight comparison between the Eduard and MicroSculpt (4 colour) lozenge.

And the winner is...drum roll....MicroSculpt. :)
Perhaps other brands are even nicer, but this is what I have and I think it's fine, so I'll use it.

And more lilac samples....

Top: AK WWI German Lilac with some white added.
Bottom: My own mixture...about the same....slightly cooler.
Both perhaps still a bit too dark, but good base colours. I'll highlight with increasingly lighter shades anyway.

The OAW Lilac seems to be more grey and/or blue. Need that also, so will cook up a colour for that also.  :)

Today I'll finish the last couple of Albi D.II parts...backside prop and tail skid, so I don't have to feel guilty starting this one.

Oh, want to see (and learn from) that paint job!

Two lilac on one Fokker? Will be interesting!

Thanks Bud, thanks Frank. :)

Started the build!

Ow....those details must go....for now. :-\

That's better!
The tube frame and internal rigging will be back up soon, but first this....

Lozenge!  :)
Weird, I'm a succer for lozenge. I adore this "camo" for about 50 years and this is the first I ever applied.

And then I'm forced to this with it....how cruel is that?....

Lightly airbrushed with a sand colour....it's the inside. Cruel :(

My time will come....soon.  8)

Worked on it from early morning to well after midnight and had high hopes to do most of the interior, but...this is all I can show.

It was a bit of a struggle. :-\

More soon,

Robin  :)

It looks nice, Robin! The faded lozenge, is that to simulate lozenge pattern shining through on the inside?

Thanks milady, thanks guys. :)

No worries, I have a lot of fun while learning.

Fredrik, (I think) the lozenge was printed on the fabric...leaving a lighter faded impression on the inside of the fabric.
My knowledge is limited, so I copy what I see elsewhere. :-[

Trial and error....
Tried to do the internal rigging with the Uschi Fine Line, but again...not my thing. Out of the window with it!
Switched to 0,1 mm Albion Alloys nickel silver wire instead...after one strand...way too shiny, so ripped off again and blackened the wire.
Finally happy, but some damage done...so be it. Luckily most won't be visible.

Painted the ammo belts.

Made the double throttle handle on the control stick.
Also did all the woodwork with oils...floor, instrument panel and several handles.

Since I have to wait for this to dry...perhaps I can do the wings now...Lozenge party!  8)

More soon.

Robin :)
