Outstanding work on the interior! I Love the faded lozenge and the leather on the seat!

As Rick said, outstanding work on the interior!

As far as trial and error goes, if you aren't making mistakes, you aren't learning anything.

What did you use for blackening the Albion wire? A JAX product?

Thanks Rick and Ken,

Brushpainted the leather. First a base of Vallejo Saddle Brown 70.940.
After that 5 thin layers (3 on the cushion) of Vallejo Air (brush painted) Mahogany 71.036.
Since this is airbrush paint it's very translucent when brushed on.
First couple of layers look horrid, but slowly building up the layers result in a nice dark red brown leather finish.

Blackening the nickel silver wire was done with Artidee "pewter figures patina - gray".
It's the same blue patina liquid you find from many model brands...but much cheaper. :)

Now preparing the wings for the lozenge decals.

More soon,

Robin :)

And here we go!

Doing lozenge and rib tapes was on my bucket list for decades...better late then never.  ::)

After working on it for at about 14 hours....

I don't think I ever spend so much time applying decals on a kit...let alone a top wing. :o

The Eduard manual has lilac stripes on the top wing...WNW...white.
Maybe it's unknown, but I go for white.

I'll varnish and do the stripes before I continue with the underside.
Afraid to damage what I've done so far.

The "OAW lilac". Used next to dark green on the undercarriage, wheels and engine covers.
As per WNW Ronnie Bar artwork. A greyish lilac / mauve.

More soon,

Robin  :)

Scary moments...painting the white stripes

Before masking...varnished twice with semi-gloss and stuck the masking tape to the palm of my hand several times before gently putting it on.
I was very afraid to see all my work sticking to a piece of masking tape when done....or paint underneath the tape because of poor adhesion.
Luckily it went well....only lost a tiny bit of rib tape. That was easy to replace.

Thank goodness I have decals for the black stripes on the bottom of the lower wing, but the lilac on the fuselage?  :-X

More soon,

Robin

The result of your lozenge party looks good!
Yes, I hate masking on decals too, and I'm doing shadows on the ribs on to of my decals ::)
Your lozenge looks opaque - that is the advantage of Aviattic lozenge, it is possible to shade prior decaling on bright (white or a bit darker) and put this shine-through decals after that.

Are ther some lilac parts on your decal sheet or only white/black and you can airbrush it completely?

Cheers,
Frank

Thanks Frank,

These are Microsculpt lozenge decals, hardly opaque.
That's not an issue with this build. I'm pleased with how the lozenge looks.
Perhaps I do some light post-shading, but might as well leave it as it is.

Masking on top of decals on the other hand....yikes!
I have to do the lilac fuselage band and rear of the fuselage underneath the tail. No decals included (I don't like the "Eduard Pink" anyway).
The engine covers I can do before I apply the lozenge.

I suppose I just have to mask it very carefully....like I did with the white stripes on the wing.

I have just finished Rudolf Stark's 'Wings of War', so I'm interested to see how this build goes

So far, it's very good indeed!

Thanks Richard,

I think it's a good kit with nice details.
Very nice to have two fuselages....with different engine covers. (adjusted according to the WNW manual)
On the PE sheet there some nice extra's not even mentioned in the manual. The triangular hatches that go next to the engine cover.
Also the round inspection hatches. Both handy, because you can apply them after the lozenge.

What's missing: the engine cover that should cover the exhaust. Pretty annoying...not easy to scratch build myself.  :-\

Furthermore....lovely kit.

Bucket list item well and truly ticked!
You have hit the ground running with lozenge application.  :o

Well done!

Thanks guys,

After 20 more hours behind my work bench...

 :)

Am I slow, or is this just crazy time consuming?  :o

Still some jobs to do on them, but getting there.
After that, I can do the engine and close the fuselage.

More soon,

Robin

Hey where did this one come from? I missed this as I was looking at your other build.....

The lozenge and othe wing markings were time very well spent - and to me the time in hours was not long. To get the standard of finish that you have achieved inevitably takes time - but as your wings show, it is worth it. The interior is also superb - one of the advantages of larger scales is that you can put in more details and see them!

Will be following more closely in future.

Stephen.

Nice progress!

Masking on top of decals on the other hand....yikes!
To avoid masking on decals there is also another method, but I have not tried myself.
One can use a decal sheet for self printing, spray with airbrush the paint on this decal, cut stripes, apply as normal.
At least for those wing stripes this method should work.

Cheers,
Frank
