Lovely work, Robin  ;) The picture of the reel of Maxima made me smile. You now have enough rigging for 3 life times  ;D

Question: The Model Air paint used for the lamination effect...did you thin it? If so, with?

The reason I ask is I tried spraying with Model Air earlier today and it just wouldn't spray right. I thinned it with flow improver, which didn't help with flow or Tip-Dry. I ended up dumping the paint out of the cup and then spent the next 30 minutes cleaning all the minute parts of my airbrush.  The brush is back to 100% working order.

Live and learn  :D

Hiya Bob,

Model Air is supposed to be ready for the airbrush, but it hardly ever is.
I use a 0,2mm nozzle on my Evolution and I use low pressure....without more thinner...splutter, sputter...clogged. :-X

I always add a few drops of Vallejo airbrush thinner.
Until recently, I mixed it in the airbrush cup, but often inconsistent....too thin...good...too thick. At random. ::)

Now I mix it in a seperate cup and use eyedroppers to mix well and move it to the airbrush cup.
Even with Air paint...often 50% thinner added. Build up thin misty layers works best (for me) and it keeps my airbrush from becomming a mess.
It's just a little bit more work, but the result is much better and cleaning much easier.

Trial and error...does it ever end?  :-\

Never!  ;D
Thanks for taking the time to respond.
I mix all my paint before it goes in the colour cup, but for some reason the 'Air' paint gives me trouble. Not to worry, back to Tamiya and Gunze.

Cheers,
Bob  :)

After a fruitful day....

Note the wrong Eduard "Li" decal. I'm not a rivet counter, but that's just way off. :-\

More soon,

Robin  :)

Wonderful work. The lilac is right perfect. Everything looks very clean painted and decaled.

Robin,
Just catching up here, the paint and decal work is superb! I too had to snicker when I read the label on the Maxima spool; I, being far less compulsive use the smaller version (250 meters) but sadly have three of them stashed here! :-[ Nothing strange about us Model Builders I maintain!

Thanks all,

With the light of my magnifier lamp...the lilac looks different on my photo's.

This is (more or less) the true colour....

For some reason it often shows more pink on my photo's...while it's more mauve or purple.

Had another full day to work on Li, but not much to show for it. :-\

I forgot to place the altimeter in the right corner earlier, but I managed to squeeze it in. I was afraid to drop it in the pit, but it went well.
The Eduard PE instruments (in this kit) are very nice....with "fold over" bezels. Even a cute little anemometer. :)
But...typical Eduard...great here...dumb there....
No attachment points for the Spandaus, other then the ammo feed...and that's not enough.
Solved this with 2 brass pins in the ammo box underneath. Drilling holes in a finished pit.....geez!

But they're there now...phew!  :-X

Furthermore...painted the struts, but that's not worth showing.

More soon,

Robin
