**COMPLETED** WNW DFW CV mid production
« on: February 03, 2019, 11:32:52 AM »
I'm in with the DFW CV. I think this Des Memorial Build is a great idea.

I'm putting aside the Fokker Eindecker which I have only just started and I'm going to do the "Stripes" version of the DFW. The beauty is that Wingnut Wings isn't sure of the colour of this plane so I can chose my own colour - and make it unique. I'm thinking of a dark/burnt orange as opposed the dark red the kit suggests. But I'll experiment first, research some posible options and may head in a completely different direction. Keep everyone guessing  8)...

Except for rigging, I'm going to honour the quality of the kit by sticking to everything else being straight out of the box.

Cheers
Alistair

Looking forward to this one Alistair. I’ve heard good things about this kit, one I’m yet to try.

I think WW1 colours are a bit subjective at the best of times..

Very good choise, Alistair. I love this plane and I would choose the same scheme. Looking forward to your next steps and your interpretation of the colour.

Thanks all
Planning to make a start tomorrow - the clock is ticking. I think it will be a coppery/burnt orange perhaps as seen here on a Phonix D1 - yikes!!!  ;D Or maybe green, or yellow...

Cheers
Alistair

 Alistair,
Great choice of subject for the GB my old friend. I really like the brownish orange scheme. At any rate looking forward to seeing more. Best of luck in the GB to you.

Hi
Getting on with it now. A big pre-paint and ready for assembling the cockpit. It has a kind of weird Star Trek seat thing but Captain Kirk didn't fly this bird. I have cut both ways with a main fuel tank in green and the auxilliary tank in brass. One strange thing being that two of the instrument decals completely disintegrated - turned to dust - replaced but haven't experienced that before. There is more painting to do and everything is just dry fitted. I love doing the cockpits and this one is very cool with a lot of very well engineered detail.

Cheers
