I have spent the last two days working on the Albatros. The band with chevrons seemed to be a simple matter. It proved to be quite a challenge, AT LEAST TO ME! I first masked the white band, then painted. No real issue here although a little of the wood grain painted fuselage lifted when I removed the mask. No big deal I can handle the touch up. I then attempted to use black decal strips to make the chevrons. Failed TOTALLY! In the end I enlarged the profile from the Osprey book, cut out the chevron that represented the one on the "Most" flat surface of the fuselage, and replicated it numerous times on Post it note paper. I applied the post it chevrons in position and outlined with Tamiya tape. I removed the post it note mask and sprayed black. This has me close enough that I can go back and touch up using black and white decal strips to even things out. I have also applied the serial number to the left fin. I will touch up all of the glitches on my next off of work rotation!

PS: Funny thing about those chevrons. Anything but a Straight on shot makes them look Very Wonky. The good news is that the photo of the real aircraft has the same thing going on!
