Thank you Guy and Spyros!

But should if possible even to move the generator backwards into the cover.
Hmm, too late.
1. it is glued in place
2. the generator is not be visible on both positions ???
3. as far as I found out both positions are possible.
Some engines have generator mounts on the crankcase:

I have not found a picture with mounted generator, but here also a WNW model of a D.IIIa (from youtube):

So I think both solutions are possible.

Cheers,
Frank

Always the same small community here - I can count on you! :) Thank you dear friends!

This one is really moving forward now!
There is still enough on the ToDo list ...

Superb detailing - especially thos evalve springs.
I got 0.15mm enameled copper wire in red, black and blue to wire a jet model with LEDs (never finished that project either). The blue one lost its color in direct sunlight on the workbench and now looks slightly yellow and blue like steel - I took that one.

Cheers,
Frank

One of my other interests is amateur radio and I build a lot of small transmitters and receivers some of which use very small ferrite toroid cores and wire between 30 and 40 AWG -  0.15mm is about 35AWG. Consequently I have on hand a good supply of this size enamel coated soft copper wire in various colours that I use for all sorts of model detailing, soft, easily cut and formed, very handy.

For those who may not know, this kind of wire is also commonly referred to as magnet wire, not that it is magnetic but it is commonly used for winding electromagnetics and electric motors ( of course ).

It is surprising that your blue wire was effected by sunlight as I have never noted that with the wire I have been using, I will have to look more closely in the future.

cheers, Graham

Halberstadt Cl.II, Mirage 1/48; 6.2.2021 Question: Splatter

Thank you very much!

It doesn't have to be the last word, it's just my way. ;)

Graham, here is the copper wire, on the left there is the original blue. Hard to show the real colors with the camera.

And now a question:

Splatter

The kit provides two variants of decals for fuselage.
I'm not sure, if I like this. Only the upper one is an option:

Should look like this:

So I experimented a bit. Painted a piece of plastic in the layout of the middle wing with five colors according to WNW, followed by a splatter painting with very low pressure.

The same piece, just on a white background.

In real it looks a bit different, hard to picture ist like it looks for the naked eye.
What do you think?

Cheers,
Frank
