Thanks Gaz. It's great stuff isn't it? Normal masking tape would be a right 'mare with the corrugated surface on the D.1  :-\

Fuselage and undercarriage get the AB treatment next....

Awesome build. I'll bokmark this as I am starting my build today. I've been away from the WWI stuff too long. Already learning things from your build which will help mine.

Love the colors as you've got them.  Really stunning.

 :)

To bring the black fuselage 'to life', I added a little XF15 Flesh to some XF1 and dry brushed the raised details. The effect is very subtle (not at all like Verlinden from the 80s  ;D) and serves to break up the monotonous solid black colour. I then brushed on a couple of coats of a Future equivalent in preperation for the decals.
A fair bit of setting solution was unsuprisingly required and here she is with her markings waiting for them to dry before they are sealed in with a clear coat...

Magnificent! Bravo!

That Panzer Putty stuff seems to work a treat. The rest of the finishes - everything - is masterful.

What do you use as "a Future equivalent"? I haven't found the right stuff yet in NZ.

Now that is beautiful!  What a striking scheme.  I think the drybrushing you did really worked for the black fuselage.

Great job!

I might buy one of these, yet.

Time for some weathering. Coat of Flat clear, some chipping with a sponge and flat aluminium, filters and washes. WIP....

Still a little way to go, but finish line isn't too far off....

That is one strange color scheme.  Your weathering looks excellent.  The filters are subtle and realistic.
