I'm at a loss for words and I have some tears in my eyes and choked up. I never met him, but he seemd like a big brother and everyone here is family. Des' passion for World War I aircraft models was unsurpassed. He always had a kind word for everybody and this forum he created is the best, friendliest, and helpful forums anywhere, bar none. My thoughts and prayers are with Adrienne and his family.

Rest in peace, brother.

So saddened by this news. His passion was obvious and his shared knowledge helped sustain and expand our shared hobby.
He will be sorely missed.

I am so sad and shocked to hear this news. Des and this forum rekindled a long lost interest in WWI subjects and I learned so much from him and from this forum.  Rest in Peace in the Great Aerodrome in the sky Des. My thoughts and Prayers to his family .

i didn't know Des 'in real'. but Des was partly responsible for my deciding World War One aviation modeling was not only a thing, but *my* thing. i only recently got back into modeling (quit when i was 13, i thought girls would not be impressed. i was a dumbass).

his builds showed not only that it *can* be done, but how.

Des was an inspiration. if the forum keeps going, in his name, he will continue to be an inspiration to people who are only just now curious about this hobby.

My condolences to his family and friends, but i'd also say to them that knew him 'in real': please understand that he meant a lot to many of us who never met him, and will continue to mean a lot to people who only encounter his work after his passing. he was outstanding and i hope and expect he will continue to be true north for WW1 aviation modeling enthusiasts.

my condolences to Adrienne, and family. I too, have been inspired to build WWI as a direct result of this forum, and Des' work.
