Thanks for the responses, all.

Would the ribs tapes on the wings be prominently visible on a painted airframe? I'm wondering if that shaded and highlighted look which seems to work so nicely to simulate CDL would be appropriate for this?

To anybody who has the kit, can you take a photo of the fuselage bottom so I can see where I should drill holes for the struts?
Sorry for the late answer!
For the backward struts there is a small ribbing on the side of the fuselage, just in front of the spar of the lower wing. See your manual, or better see the manual of the Profipack. You can download it here:
https://www.eduard.com/store/out/media/8161.pdf

There you will also see the position of the front struts in the PE.

Hope it helps,
Frank

Thats a very loaded question. But here are some links to images of a F1 I think Voss's in both links.

As you can see they are not really very prominent, but they are there and you do notice the ribs/tapes that have been overpainted

Sorry probably didn't help.

Thanks for the links, guys.

And Ray, that actually helped a great deal.

But why do you say it's a loaded question? Because of the lack of consensus regarding the color of Voss' plane?

Nothing as fun or controversial as that. I mean everyone knows the cowl was green with yellow polka dots. No wait is it yellow with green and oh yes silver blue airframe all over, or was that cdl  and green streaks .. joking I actually saw a diorama at a show that had Voss’s mechanic painting a cowl yellow beside the F1 but the green cowl mounted on the aircraft.

No it’s the whole ribs, rib tapes impression, shading etc. Done well the effect looks wonderfull, overdone and well It can wreck all the work. But the effect looks so good.

Lol - I'm going with silvery blue with chrome yellow streaking and green cowl  ;D

And agree about the tapes trick - I've seen some modelers pull it off beautifully - others not so much. I might forgo it, what with less being more, and all that.

The mounting holes: https://photos.app.goo.gl/VScmjyFSF2PlgofP2

On my Dr.1s I used a mixed oil colors over a light blue acrylic base for the streaking. You can mix three different shades of Fokker streaky green and apply them independently with a medium stiff brush, dragging for streaks much like the originals were done.

Thank you.

And I love how the streaking on your model falls into the yellow end of the spectrum. That looks just lovely! Is it particular to that machine, or is there some evidence for the colors being more of that olive yellow shade? I hope its the latter because I'd love for my model to look like that.

Finally some progress to report on. I installed the interplane struts to the middle wing and the cabane to the upper. The wings are just test fit for now, in order to line everything up.

Looks okay, I think.

I also got those little gaspatch turnbuckles. You can see the two in between the cabane struts.

The bottom wing fits very poorly to the fuselage, and some post paint filling will be necessary. Fun!

Havent got as far as you but can confirm the bottom wing is a very poor fit. I’ve done a lot of sanding and there’s still a small gap on the starboard wing root. Head on though it looks square.  :o
You’re doing a great job and I’ll have to find those Gaspatch turnbuckles in my stash. I was hoping to get away with not fitting them but you’ve thrown the gauntlet down ;)

Thanks Ray and Henry.

My take on the streaking.
