+1 vote of confidence.

your bus is no more beat up than MacLaren's real one in the photo. you find a nice MacLaren figure you could probably recreate the photo and fool a few people... me for example...

Rick, James,
Thanks so much! I keep going back to the photos to ensure myself this is not overdone. "Factory fresh" she is not!!
Cheers,
Lance
Thank you Alistair, I need a vote of confidence at this stage as I keep thinking I may have gone too far on the wear and tear. As for the "place to live" they don't call it COLD Lake for no reason, as the locals say! ;)
Cheers,
Lance

"Factory fresh she is not"

At the risk of being blunt mate, neither are we!  ;D

Which perhaps is why your degree of weathering is spot on.

You have the life experience to "feel" how much is appropriate.  ;D

Which you have very successfully achieved.  8)

"Vote of confidence"?

You don't need it!

"Sic itur ad astra'", and all that implies, still applies.  :)

Wow! Virgil no less! I am flattered boggie, and thank you as well Jeff, my confidence in this weathering adventure is boosted significantly. I've since given the decalled areas a coat of Future to blend it all together, a flat coat next and some shading of the markings should complete the effect. I'll get some photos done once that's completed. :)
Cheers,
Lance

Thanks Terri. If this slow but persistent snow doesn't stop soon I may never get back to the workbench instead of a snow scoop! I always look forward to more modelling time in the Winter but this is a bad start!! :-\ ::)
Cheers,
Lance

We are off to bad start this winter , last weekend plus 19 degrees , this weekend -19 -24 with wind chill . Not a lot of snow yet . On the plus side it's bench time once again . Ja , will be shoveling once again this weekend as well . Strangely I have develop a relationship with the shovel . A fawness I'm not overly excited about .

She is shaping up nicely Lance and I admire on how you are trying new stuff in your modeling skills which have grown tremdously over the years .

Thanks so very much Terri, your remarks are greatly appreciated. Yes, the snow shovel/scoop......... I've acquired an unhealthy disdain for the brute already! Keep warm.

I thoought that I had already commented on this Lance - somehow I must have forgotten to post it!

The weathered and battered look that you have achieved on both the paintwork and the markings is staggering. That is real artistry and no mistake. This model is going to look extremely realistic when completed.

Stephen.

Thank you for your most welcome comments Stephen. I had thought earlier that completing the post shading of the wing markings was imminent however a myriad of touch ups and the intervals to allow over coats to cure have prolonged the process, all part of the normal sequence and I didn't want to rush it. It's been a challenge to find a sequence to achieve the effect but a lot of fun and education as well. There's been a lot of the old modelling "nope, not right, try again" going on with this one, hopefully lessons learned are retained! ::)
Cheers,
Lance

Lance I agree with Stephen, the worn look you are achieving is a piece of art, it really gives the idea of the stress the men who flew on those machines had to cope with, these signs of wear and tear on the machines look to me like scars on the pilots lives...

Fantastic job, keep it up!

Thanks Antonio! I'm not sure this project qualifies as "art" however I am truly humbled by all of the very positive feedback it's generated. Compliments from the Membership here who produce such impressive results mean a great deal to me.

Thank you Guy! I'm unable to make any progress for the next few days, have family visiting for the weekend. Real life again asserts it's place! :-\
