Another update and a try at Imgur as a photo host. The Oberursel UR.II Engine, the German built version of the French LeRhone 9, was sourced from the Wingnut Wings Spare Sprues available at their on-line catalogue. The only addition were the ignition wires. Most of the finish is Alclad II with oil washes.

More updates and photos will follow,
hope this works! ........... ;)
Cheers,
Lance

Looks good so I'll try the rest.
The fuselage got it's Aviattic 4 Colour Lozenge treatment, a slow process as the panels had to be decalled, and allowed to dry and be trimmed before the next etc.

The stitching is Eduard PE and will be highlighted later with the oil staining.

.......  and last the hand laminated and carved wood prop. I used a Wingnut Wings Axial for the outline and shape, the Kit version being pretty poor in my view.
Here's the three together, the wood one still requires varnish. Top is the Kit prop, bottom the WNW Axial.

This last view is the prop hub roughly cut from the Wingnut version and drilled out. Once cleaned up and painted it should do quite nicely!

   Adios Photobucket! >:(
Cheers,
Lance

Thanks for your generous comments Des! Yes, it's very nice to be out from under the black cloud of extortion perpetrated by my previous image Host Site (who for some reason are continuing to allow my photos to remain, and be shared?! :o ???!)
The prop, once carved, produced much wider layers then anticipated however I think, at this stage, it will suffice......I may take another run at it later.
Now to get a coat or two of future on her and start the staining process, the wing being the next major step.
Cheers,
Lance

Looks excellent Lance! Terrific work on applying the Lozenge! Your carved prop makes me envious as I have been struggling with trying to paint 3 axial props for the F1,DR1, and EV!

Thanks for the support Rick. 3 Axial Props you say?   Might be time to give the carving thing a try!

That's fantastic Lance. The prop looks as great as the decalled fuselage.

Thanks for commenting Borsos. A slow and, at times, challenging little project to this point! :P

Thanks von Buckle, more will follow soon! BTW, the excellent thumb prints all over the Aviattic Lozenge are mine, not the suppliers. Fortunately the top coat of Future has made them disappear!

Lovely work on this so far Lance. The prop really looks the part and I think that Rick should follow your advice - carving is not so difficult once you have given it a try.

Lance, good start into timerwork! What kind of wood do you have used?
Its hard to see on the pictures, but you could improve it further with more layers.

Cheers,
Frank

Frank,
I agree, more layers would produce a more appealing result however, after completing it, I spent a bit of time going over my Reference material and there are several examples of what appear to be 4 or 5 lamination Axials in the photos in the Windsock Data File. If you have that Datafile, #25, check out the centre photo of page 22 for example. The TVAL Replica machines both have numerous layers in their replica props. I'm going to finish this one and then decide whether I need to carve a newer one with more layers. ;)
The veneer sample package I use does not have the sheets labelled, so I don't know what types of wood are in this prop. I won't be using the darker one again as the grain is slightly too open.
Cheers,
Lance
