Great camouflage. Seems like a good kit warped wing excluded of course

Afternoon all,

Little more progress; some weathering, decals & rigging started. I bought in some 0.06mm monofilament and I think it's perfectly scale, but it didn't look quite right as it was almost invisible. So I've gone for an over scale 0.14mm but at least you can see it!

Thanks for keeping the interest going...

Guy

Nice job in the weathering Guy!
I use .06mm for rigging and run it across a silver paint pen or permanent marker to make it more visible. It also may be necessary to mark the end with a black marker to help with threading it through the holes!

Great weathering, especially in 1/72.

Your weathering is superb! I am looking forward to seeing all of those wires drop into place!

Thank you for the kind comments  ;)

Currently mid-rigging and I'd wish I'd used a smaller diameter - I reckon about 0.1mm - it looks ok but is a little too thick to work with in this scale - the struts just aren't strong enough to be put under much tension.

Ah, looking very good!!
I have always had a soft spot in my heart for Spads, & may have to consider building this kit in the not too distant future.

Hi Guy,
Lovely work on the Spad.
You may want to take a look at this line. 0.8 in diameter and will serve you well.

I, too, really like those colours. I use 0,08mm for rigging, but have now recieved all 3 sizes of Uschi's stretchy line to see how that goes... the super fine is really that, even thinner than 0,08mm wire I now use...

Thank you again all,

I have nearly finished the rigging and I've learnt a lot about how I'll do it next time  ::) will definitely go for 0.08mm.. the thicker it is, the problems you cause.

Here's a quick shot prior to the top wing going on...

As Warren said, she's looking great!
I think you'll find it easier with the thinner rigging next time, it pulls tighter without leaving a tell-tale bend as it enters the wing. There won't be any strain on the struts if you just add a small weight (I use dolls house clothes pegs!) to the line when tightening it - just enough to pull it taught. I've even used the strut material supplied in vac kits with no problems.
