Hi Boggie, Rick and Lance,   Thanks for looking in - good to hear from you  :)

Well Manni, the re-rigging, despite being a bit fraught at times, has been successful and the model is now completely rigged. Drilling holes through the top wing did not prove as disfiguring as I anticipated and on the PC10 areas is virtually undetectable unless you look directly at it. The other holes are in the roundel so I have to match the blue as yet but I'm hopeful.

The lines, pulled tight, were CA'd then pegged with pared down cocktail sticks, again CA'd after pushing in the hole.

Once all were in they were reinforced underneath with CA before snipping flush on top. Here's a sneak preview - apart from the top Lewis M/G and the Vickers front sight it's finished.

The base is near done and awaiting some more grass tufts as I ran out with just a inch or so to do so, unless they turn up tomorrow, I guess it will be Monday before it's finalised.

Off to a model engineer meeting tonight but I shall have a nice'plastic' smile on  ;)

Regards - Tug

Simply outstanding rigging, especially considering what you had to do to change the diameter!

Hi Guys - thanks as usual  ;)

Well it's fundamentally finished - last piece went on this afternoon but I still have the wheels to weather to gel with the base and some pint tweaking on the rigging terminations. The tufts for the base arrived today but unfortunately the wrong ones had been sent so more are on their way so it will be later this week before it's on it's base.

In the meantime three pics - a bit dark, the lighting in my workshop is not great for this sort of pic but you can at least see what it looks like. I'll get the photo lights down from the loft which will improve things a tad but not till it's completely finished.

It's probably time to call this thread at an end as construction per se has finished so I'll post finished pics on 'Finished Models'

Just like to say a big thanks to all who looked in and offered good advice to ensure I got things right, and to those who looked in whether commenting or not - thanks for your interest too. I found this, my first Wingnut Wings model, to be very pleasurable to build but have to say the end result is not quite as satisfying as the Special Hobby Nieuport as that required a much higher degree of modelling input

Regards to all - Tug

Absolutely lovely finish Tug, looking forward to the detail shots in Completed Models. I've got another of these as my first one was heavily modified to McCudden's B4891 with the "bubbled" cockpit, heavier landing gear etc. and I want to do one like yours in standard configuration. It's been an education and a pleasure to follow your Build here.
Cheers,
Lance

Fantastically built kit, Tug. Very very nice! You are a master of subtle weathering!
I see it is time to get back to the book shelf and do some research for the Ni 27 as you need some fresh fodder  ;)?
Best wishes

This is a very classy piece of work, Tug. I love what you've done here. Can you just remind me what product you've used for the rigging?

Best wishes
Nigel

Hi Guys - Thanks for all these kind remarks  :).

Just to say I've had a couple of days having a real good clear up while waiting for these grass tufts for the base. They've still not arrived and I'm out tomorrow so it'll be a day or so yet

Nigel - I have used black 6 thou diameter mono filament 'invisible' sewing thread. It worked well now that I have figured out how to tension it and anchor it securely. Having done it I don't like the black however. Comparing it with the clear, pre coloured with a silver pen, mono filament on the Nieuport it appears too 'prominent'. Pity this material isn't available in a silver/grey colour but at least I now know the direction I'll go in on this part of a build in future.

Smaller lines - inside the cockpit and the strut cross wires, were model Kasten 0.06 mm line.

Thanks again - Tug
