Italian N-17 1/48
« on: November 01, 2016, 11:05:02 AM »
Well it has been awhile since the last time I build a WW1 subject . I finally finished the project I state in honor of my Dad . Bench is cleared and ready to start Eduards weekend edition on the N-17 . This will be out of the box build . Nothing fancy about it when it comes to detail . I need a simple project for doing 3 Tamiya 32 scale birds back to back .

Scheme will be the box makings of Ian fulco Rufle di Calabria , 91 squadriglia , spring 1917 . I like the skull on the fuselage sides  :)

Progress photo's coming soon ...

I look forward as well to seeing this WIP, just for the sake of precision, the correct spelling of this pilot's name is Fulco Ruffo di Calabria 20 victories credited.
He succeeded Francesco Baracca as commander of the 91th Squadriglia after his death in June 1918.

There are not so many photos of Fulco in a Ni-17. Here is one. His most famous plane was the SPAD (it's on show at the Italian Airforce Museum in Vigna di Valle near Rome).

Great choice Terri!

Good choice, in my opinion the weak point of this model is the engine but overall is nice as it is in the box. Best whishes!

Excellent choice, T!  If you need a break from complex and challenging builds, this is the way to go.  Really looking forward to following along.

Bud

Looking forward to following your progress on this one Terri, another "silver seventeen" to help me through mine! Great scheme you've chosen, what are you planning to use for the basic silver dope?
Cheers,
Lance

Thanks Rick  :)

Well , I have been busy at the bench over the past few days and got the cockpit done with various other items ready to go . I still need to finish detail painting of the V struts . I couldn't help adding a bit of detail to dress it a bit better without going overboard . Structural bracing was added on both sides and the control cable on the rudder bar . Seat belts where added to dress up the seat better . The rudder has it decals applied , don't have to do this later and it's ready for weathering .
