Great wood grain Steve. I love water color pencils, lots of fun.

Outstanding! By far the best woodgrain I've seen in this scale.

Thanks all, I really appreciate the encouraging words!
But, I must say that I think my panel scribing was a bit too aggressive for this scale. Lesson learned for next time.

Excellent woodgrain effect and like Warren I am very impressed with the exhaust. Considering that this is the True Scale this is quite magnificent modelling.

The wood grain looks perfect, Steve!  1/72 scale is tricky because of the scale effect.  Consequently, just a tad overdone looks more realistic to the Mk.I eyeball than keeping everything precisely to scale.
Brilliant work all 'round.

Once again, thank you all so much for the kind words, still learning here.

Yesterday, I sprayed a few coats of a mix of Tamiya clear, clear orange & clear yellow. I wasn't sure if I needed more, but, today, I removed the tape masking from the wing to see if the previously panted wing stub & center section matched the body. Not exactly, but I guess it'll be close enough. I also now realize that the D.V didn't have the strap on the fuselage between the undercarriage struts (correct terminology?). Oh well, they'll be painted green primer. Another lesson learned.

I previously filled in the transitions of both the vertical tail fin & tail skid faring with superglue to create the smoother contours & you can see that here. I also need to add some wood color between the wing & the fuselage because I see a bit of grey plastic that my masking obviously covered.

The hatches & vents are covered with Bare Metal Foil to prevent paint buildup during the process. I think the color will do, but I need to add more clear to be able to sand & reduce the texture of the spray.

Breathtaking talent in small scale, I am blown away. Just wonderful, what you do in 1/72, just wonderful!

Thanks again! I'm glad the photos are okay, this scale makes things a tad ugly when viewed though the lens. But, the good thing is that it shows all of the warts to hopefully correct. Today, I think that I was able to get rid of the grey band above the wing on the port side that I mentioned earlier.

The photos are first class! I have to comment again on how IMPRESSIVE the wood grain effect is...for any scale!
