Show us your - Fokker E.V
« on: August 31, 2012, 08:17:27 PM »
This is my Avis 1:32 scale Fokker E.V model, for a limited run kit it was quite an enjoyable build.

And a fine one she is. I enjoyed revisiting this build log this morning; as always, filled with great ideas and techniques for inspiration.

She's a beauty, Des.  As with all of your projects, this one makes me want to build one myself.
Cheers,
Bud

Something to keep in mind about the E.V / D.VIII -- the "all green wings" theory has been thrown into question by the well respected WWI aircraft historian Dan-San Abbott, who specialized in German aircraft colors. Here is an interesting discussion on the subject, in case you have not seen it:

oh yeah, has been read all the topics concerning the "colorful" painting of E.V raised by Dan, have seen the pictures of 1:1 replica which IMHO it looks like the rainbow ;D..nevertheless I am going to do in compliance with Dan investigation. Will be polish one ;D

Here's my offering: a tribute to Dan San Abbott:

Simply gorgeous, Gary.  I love how you handled the streaking.  Dan-San would be proud.

Those are both great looking razors. Maybe the most lethal looking WWI type.

Gary,
A beautiful Model and wonderful tribute. I have a Dragon 1:48 Scale DVIII and the wing is done in the Dark Green/Light Blue scheme we had referenced for many years; the streaking "thing" researched and basically established by DSA really surprised me.
Your interpretation of the streaked finish is impressive, I sure hope WNW or perhaps Roden do a 1:32 version of this little gem. Which Kit have you used here?
Cheers,
Lance

  Des,
The E.V still looks outstanding my old friend. It's always great to look back and enjoy any of your builds. Love that black and yellow killer bee scheme.

@Gary,
I remember following the build thread for this one. Aerodrome I think. She's still one of the finest E.V's I've seen.

Highest Regards,
Gregory Jouette

My DML 1/48 E.V, built in 2003.  This is the famous Jasta 36 scheme we've all seen and is the subject of the Eduard E.V.  I mention this because I built this before Eduard's release.  I don't buy the idea that the star was black, but red...and I had a sheet of Polikarpov Red Stars in 1/48 that came with an Insignia magazine and I didn't want them to go to waste.  :)
Lozenge decals are the wonderful 1/48 Americal Gryphon 4-color.  The wing got a coat of Fokker Dark Green, which was before I knew about the stained wings.
Sadly this model met its demise while flying off a bookshelf.  I'd like to rebuild it sometime.
