Rigging tensioner ?

Hi guys, Further to my questions regarding tensioning mono-filament rigging I thought you might be interested to see this.

I saw this on E-bay for the princely sum of £14.99 with 'free' postage. It comes with five differing sized bits and has, given the price, a reasonably well made look about it. Allegedly variable from 150 to 500 degrees how it performs for the intended task remains to be seen but it's a lot less unwieldy than the last iron used. Besides it should allow for some finer soldering too.

Exactly the sort of soldering station i use for that purpose (apart from the island-specific power connection, of course. As if driving on the wrong side wouldn't be enough of a difference from the continent  ). Has served me well for years.

Now that Patrick was not something I was aware of  That isn't just a bit steep it's is as you express bloody ridiculous. Ah-well, look at it this way, they are making up for all the free postage in the UK

I burn rigging by only using extinguished matches... I'm sure I'll end up with melting a wing by using a solder...

Third paragraph under first pic you'll see I did try this using the larger 'Cooks' matches. What I found was that it works pretty quick but only very localised for as soon as the heat dissipates the effect is lost. Using the iron gave a consistent heat along the length of rigging which really tightened quite a slack line but I agree it is an operation where one has to use extreme care.
