Not kept up with this Des - just remarkable what you have achieved. Your "ordinary" detailing of the interior is better than my "super-detailing" even though much of it cannot be seen. I am following this with interest because I have this on my list to scratch build att some time in the future.

i hope this is enjoyable to you des. to me 1/48 is a great scale to work in. 1/72 is just too small in most cases although i have had fun building some 1/72 stuff for example i recently built the encore oeffag albatros in that scale which was a fun quick build. i have built a few 1/32 and they do allow for more super detailing and enable some small parts to be more accurate and faithful to the original but sometimes it just takes so long to get it done and the models are big and harder to display or transport if you like to go to shows and contests. 1/48 is the perfect compromise imho. you are able to add quite a bit of detail but the build progress more rapidly, when you are finished the result is suffuciently impressive easy to display and there are many more odd subjects from multiple companies to choose from . for me this is ideal. i hope you enjoy and consider doing other 1/48 stuff. you would do a phenomenal job on a roden be2c for example.

My many thanks to Bud, Xan, Ernie, Ermeio, Borsos, Stephen, Rick and Scott for all your very kind comments, they are very much appreciated.

Scott, I have the premium edition CSM Sopwith Dolphin which I would not mind building, being plastic would make it a bit easier to build.

Hi Des,

Thanks very much Gary for your much appreciated comments.

I fitted the two PE panels to the side of the fuselage, to add a bit of detail I added 0.4mm brass tube for the hinges then inserted lengths of 0.12mm copper wire to represent the removable hinge pins, I formed a loop on the end of each pin.

I also fitted the PE engine cooling louvres to the left side of the fuselage, these PE louvres had to be assembled so took quite some time. The louvre panes have also been fitted with hinges from 0.4mm brass tube and hinge pins from 0.12 copper wire. I also fitted cockpit padding, this is made from 0.95 plastic tubing CA'd to the fuselage, this will be painted a leather colour.

The standard continues to amaze - the PE detail in particular is very impressive. I am going to have an excellent resource to follow when I do get around to my attempt.

Magnificent work, Des!  In addition to building a spectacular model, you're producing a wonderful tutorial for me to follow when I build mine!
Cheers,
Bud

Des, what a job you're doing with this one! You always manage to provide very instructional tips in your builds. Your work on those side panels has inspired me to get back to the Canuck project. Keep up the good work!
Pietro
