Time to start the Build Log for my next project, the Wingnut Wings Pfalz D.XII. I've had this Kit in the Stash since it's release some time ago. I've always liked the aircraft's appearance despite the less then sterling reputation it had in service in the latter stages of the war, mostly due to the coincident arrival into service of the arguably best fighter of the conflict, the Fokker D.VII.

I am fortunate to have a great store of reference material on hand for this build: the original Albatros Publications Datafile #41, the later #146, and Pfalz Aircraft of WWI of the Jack Herris Series. Also from my bookshelf the Windsock Worldwide Issue containing Ray Rimell's Build of the Kit and the Osprey Aces Series Pfalz Scout volume.

The scheme I've chosen for the Build is a "Unit and Pilot unknown" version captured by the British immediate post Armistice, #2695/18 in markings from Pheon's excellent Decal Sheet 32030 for the aircraft. It's profile #1 at the top in the photo below with the yellow "Zig-Zag" personal stripe marking.

I'll be adding After Market 5 Colour Lozenge by Aviattic, HGW Belts, Aeroclub instrument Bezels and some Taurus additions to the Daimler-Mercedes D.IIIau engine.

Last, the cockpit will be a "full build" per normal, and for this subject I plan a relatively "clean" finish with only light weathering and wear to represent it on arrival in service. After a 4 month struggle putting together a "Fee" I'm much looking forward to a "simple old single holer fighter" to build!
Cheers,
Lance
