Lance,

it is really looking "weathered considerably and much faded", good job :)

You may easily change the step on the nascelle with some leftover PE or brass sheet to add this extra detail and some additional realism.

best regards,
Sasho

Nice and convincing wear and tear on the nacelle - what are your plans for weathering the wings?

Stefan

Thanks for your comments Greg and Stefan, very much appreciated.
Stefan, I've spent a lot of time looking at photos and thinking about the wings and other "flying" surfaces; I'm leaning towards a very faded (oxidized) finish and depending on how that looks possibly some wear (rubbed effect) along the leading edges. I don't see evidence of chipping of the black finish on the fabric areas other then a bit on the fabric panel on the lower nacelle. This will be very much a progressive step, the trick to stop when "enough is enough"!
Cheers,
Lance

Sasho,
Thanks for this, an addition I missed. As you say, easily done so I'm on it!
Cheers,
Lance

Thanks much Bud. Now it's time to apply some of that good old "Bud's soft pastel post shading" magic stuff to the flying surfaces! ;)
Cheers,
Lance

The weathering is beautifully done, Lance!  She looks
terrific with the engine in place.  Excellent progress,
my friend. :D

Thanks for the supportive comments Bob and Ernie, much appreciated. I hope to get the matt overcoat on all the parts today, real life is competing for priority of late, how dull! :-\ :( :(

Lance

Looks wonderful Lance!  How did you do the distressing over the "JESS" lettering decal, or was that masked and painted? (Please forgive me if I overlooked that information earlier in the thread  ;)).

Regards,

Bob

Bob,
I used a slightly wetter "Dry Brushing" of the base black colour while the decal and surface were still in high gloss "Future" finish applied for the decal applications. That was followed with the semi-gloss or satin final overcoat of clear Vallejo Polyurethane Varnish. The lettering is the Kit decal.
Cheers,
Lance

Just caught up here Lance - this model is coming on superbly. Love the weathering effects you have created in particular.

Another masterpiece in the making  :)

Thanks for the endorsement Tug. Between your Boat Club activities, the Nieuport Build, and the beating you took on the Modelkasten order :'( I appreciate you taking the time to look it over and to comment.

Looks gorgeous already. Nice weathering on the fuselage and that engine looks great.
