Thanks James, I should have the rib tapes done sometime in the next year or two, and the engine should be not far behind! ;)
Tug, thank you! I use CA to spot glue the belts at various points to get the right "arrangement". I find moving or posing them with the point of a #11 Hobby Knife blade works well, when happy I apply a drop of CA and move on to the next point or belt.
Cheers,
Lance

Thanks Lance - that's interesting as I fought shy of using cyano in case it wicked through the fabric and made it hard and brittle. I'll try some experimenting with the belts I have left - I used them as templates for the ali foil!

Hi Lance,

I just stumbled only on your building report.
What a beautiful model.
I'm a fan WnW, but unfortunately do not have this type in the program.
As it stands, however, the kit by Roden also seems to be good.
And with the accessories there arises a real gem.
From now on I'm not going to leave your side, and follow the presentation on.
A very good template for my own Siemens Schuckert!

So long and regards
Jörg

Michael,
I try to only apply paint to the "outside" of the belts and I don't bother to remove paint from the seat surface, it seems to work fine. I use Medium CA to assemble the belts as well, but MINIMUM quantities for both.
Jorg, Thank You for the interest and nice comments!
Cheers,
Lance

I elected to finish the flying surfaces next; they are now completely covered in their lozenge pattern fabric decals , rib and edge tapes done, and a sealer coat of Future done.
All Lozenge is from Aviattic, 5 Colour (Faded) using the 45 Degree Joined stock for the upper wing and the same Full Pattern Width applied span wise to the lower wing and flight control surfaces.

The larger sections were segmented to keep the application process controllable.......

The rib and edge tapes were cut from the 5 Colour Upper (White Decal Paper) version and applied with a light application of Microsol to ensure adhesion until the sealer coat was added.

After drying overnight the hand brushed top coat of Future was applied leaving them ready for the national marking decals, then a coat of Vallejo Clear Flat Varnish, and some Post Shading.

Next on the Bench is the Aviattic Siemens-Halske SH III Resin Engine, a "model in itself" which should be a real challenge to this oldster's failing eyes and sausage fingers as Kornbeef calls them!
Cheers,
Lance

An excellent job applying the decals Lance, the edge tapes and rib tapes also turned out perfectly.

Thanks gents; the macro lens shows the edge tapes are actually a little rough in places I'm afraid. As for the cattle prod, Michael, I'll ensure I keep well ahead of it! :o

Beautiful work on the lozenge, Lance!  You know, those
macro lenses lie more than mirrors. ;)  This is an exceptional
build and can only get better with the Aviattic engine.  Great
update, my friend!

Cheers,
Ernie :)

Many Thanks Ernie. The "macro" can be a de-motivator I agree; when it gets really bad I just take off my glasses and everything looks really good! :P

Lance

Superb work on the decals, Lance, but then the whole project is shaping up beautifully. Maybe it's hotdog rather than sausage fingers!

Best wishes
Nigel

Man that looks good Lance. I wonder why they offset the lozenges?
