Hi!

It's time to start the leviathan  ;D

Here's the box



I'm not going trough the content as usual, because I thin you have seen enough reviews and builds  ;)

I've choosen to do the box art scheme



because I like it and because with my dad I've done an rc model in this scheme





Dad with plane (now he has quit smoking  8) !)



I've started with the interior. It' very similar to a yacht... a lot of wood everywhere, so I've used the proven method of oils over an acrylic base. Like on the W12 I'v preshaded the base



Some parts with oils and other details added. (i'm not going trough every step, a lot to do, but if you are interested in something let me know)



On the side frames I've added a coat of tamiya clear orange to give them a different hue



For the fuselage side I've choosen a lighter base color, then I'll add oils to simulate the ply sides



All the interiors parts painted. Not a difficult task, but it takes time, also because you have to wait for the oils to dry, luckily this is a very hot summer.

A test for the fit...it seems ok



And as usual everything will dissapear   ::)



Finally a shoot for let you see the size compared to the tamiya 1/32 p-51. it's big!!




Just a last thing: Someone knows where the aerial should go? I've assembled the wireless aerial reel and I want to add the antenna to it, but where does it go? Straight trought the floor? It seems a little strange... Thanks for your help!

You have done a superb job with all the interior painting and fitting Andrew, your wood colours are excellent. Such a shame that all the effort you put into the interior virtually disappears when the fuselage is closed up. Looking forward to seeing more progress on this one.

BTW, the radio controlled Felixstowe looks brilliant, does it fly well?

   Very impressive start, Andrew, the interior work is magnificent. That big RC Version is spectacular as well, looks very real with the beautiful scenery behind. With the scheme you've chosen this will be a real "eye catcher"! 8)

Agree with the others about both models - they are truly excellent. That is one very large aeroplane, even in 1/72 scale - in 1/32 I would have to move house if I built it!

The rc model is not tested yet. We had some engine troubles last time, I hope that we can test it soon  ;)

The aerial? I had the same headache, I read about it in 'The Spider Web'. But unfortunately I have not got any hint, where should it go. My guess is, that they just reeled it out through one of crew openings, I cannot imagine any hole in the hull for it. I would bet for one of side hatches for waist gunners, to avoid a danger of contact with propellers. But this is only my theory. In my model I decided to have the aerial secured on the reel.  ;) After all, they unreeled it only when airborne, not when on the trolley...

Great job Andrew,

Love the RC version! Very impressive - must be a pig to fly! I've just finished a 1/4 scale SE5a. Hoping to post some pictures soonish..

Hi!

I've used alclad copper. I use Alclad for metals wherever I can  ;)
