Thanks very much George for your very kind comments. The engine built OOB is quite basic but with a little extra work it turns out to be an acceptable engine, the magnetos really finish it off beautifully.

Thank you Martin and Bo for your very nice comments, they are much appreciated.

Bo, the magnetos are excellent and are so easy to assemble and paint, I will be buying more to keep as spares for my scratch builds.

I painted the top forward fuselage, I used Gunze H1 full gloss white which sprayed beautifully, the lower hull will be done the same colour.

Des, the engine is absolutely wonderful!  Bo's magnetos are a great addition.
The Gunze white looks mirror perfect. Was it primed at all?  What an attractive
model this is shaping up to, my friend. :D

Cheers,
Ernie :)

 Des,
You've out done yourself again my old friend. You truly do rate Master Level. I read through your scratch built section on the home page last evening. I've never seen such a grand collection , each a Magnum Opus.

Highest Regards,

superlative, Des !
The engine is a model in itself
Pay attention to the cross braces between the uprights - they have a tensioning buckle in their middle
You can represent it with putty or a blob of color - it is a shapeless protuberance

Hello gentlemen and ladies,
Yeah, paint is coming, in a beautiful way. It looks like a racer.

Thank you Ermeio and Alain for your much appreciated comments.

I painted the lower part of the hull using the same Gunze Full Gloss White as I did on the top. I have also noticed that the engine is sitting too far aft, the propeller does not pass through the hollowed out section in the fuselage, in real life this would cause huge issues, bits of wood would be flying everywhere  ??? ??? but on the model the propeller can be position in such a way as not to be noticed. I have also clear coated the wood and painted surfaces with a clear gloss ready for decals.

It is terrific Des!
Please remember that these circular holes ahead of the cockpit are portholes to let some light shine through upon the guns.
Someone (wrongly) interpreted them as fuel caps - they are covered with cellon.
There is a fuel cap behind the cockpit, do not forget it, else it becomes difficult to position after the top wing is in place.
I appreciate this model

Lovely paintwork on the hull, Des. The propeller being a bit too far
back really doesn't distract from the model at all.  Excellent progress,
my friend.

Cheers,
Ernie :)

It is on the right hand of the pilot

I hope that this image will help.
There is also a small hole to let the wires pass through on each side of the fuselage.
A great rendition of the wood!
