Lovely work on the machine gun, those tiny PE bits can be a bit fiddly at times, the lozenge application looks really good.

Thanks again for the interest!

Some progress - doesn't look like much but it feels like it has taken significant effort to get to this point of having the fuselage halves closed up. Some putty and sanding has been required along the turtledeck seam and on the front but not too bad. I prepped the tail empennage surfaces as well but managed to ruin the paint when glossing for lozenge - tried the Tamiya spray gloss and wow that stuff is hot - really reacted badly with the acrylic paint. Getting a good gloss remains a challenge for me I guess :)

Also have decided to do the scheme for "white #2" though with the early version crosses from scheme white #1 instead of the later field modified (I figure it is safe to believe that #2 was delivered with those same crosses as #1 as they were the same production batch and close in airframe number)

I hope to order an AEG shortly, to be built as this aircraft so I'm particularly enjoying this build.

Fuselage and lower wing all lozenged now. Entire fuse is covered with decals - biggest decal job I have ever done and the most difficult getting them to settle down over the top coaming and nose. Lots of things not really satisfied with but ah well. Still some more touch ups to do....

The worst is that after all the lozenge, I applied the other markings which went fine till the serial numbers - they silvered terribly... All the other decals went on fine so not sure what happened there. I have some extra lozenge so I may just apply a section over the serial numbers to cover them up - not sure what else to do  :P

Looks terrific! The Lozenge is outstanding. I can't seem to see the silvering on your serial numbers but I am sure there is a method to help with the silvering after application. I just can't think of what it is at this time  :-\

Looks fantastic Petrov,

Really lovely to see the kit supplied lozenge on the model.

I am going to use the Aviattic lozenge on my build so it will make a good contrast to see models built with different interpretations of the night lozenge fabric.

Reference your silvering problem.

You may be able to tease off the existing serials by using decal softener or just plain water and a paintbrush?

The technique may be very slow, but I have managed to do this successfully in the past.

To prevent silvering of serials, I always apply them by using some wet future applied with a paintbrush on the area the decal has to be applied to. You have to be very careful though to carefully blot out the excess underneath otherwise you can end up with wrinkles in the overlying decal. Let it dry naturally, and there should be no silvering at all underneath.

If you need spare serials, drop me a message and you can have mine , as I won't be using the same decals for my kit.

Good luck and best wishes with the rest of the build!

Dave :)

PS- does anyone have any idea why there is a raised C- section ridge in the area above the fuel tank, on the lower centre section wing? I can see no purpose for this, and wondered whether there was supposed to be some other part for this area? Cannot see why.
