Fantastic build, really nice, the bombs look just like the ones I saw in the museum in Brussels.

Spectacular work on this model, Zavod.
One "but". Looking at the weathered ordnance I have always doubts. This stuff was used just once...
My doubts notwithstanding, you are building a fantastic model.

Yeah but it would sit around outside in piles that were constantly being moved etc.

I had the same thoughts...why are all the bombs so wrecked looking, but every picture I see they are really rough looking.  So I just tried to make what I see.... :)

Update....

Rigging is done....

I must admit this is a very tedious endeavor.  I have to give a lot of credit you you long time WWI builders.  It's insane, At times I felt like I needed to be ambidextrous and I needed a third hand.  Rigging anything is tough and this was a triumph of the will.  I think I prob had a good ten to twelve hours in rigging this.  Yes I made some mistakes that I had to correct, yes I learned a ton, I will know what to do and what not to do in the future.  I have one line that went slack that I will replace, but overall I feel good.  The "Y" shaped lines on either side of the nacelle were a real character builder, but with lots of planning I was able to get it like I wanted.  I used the gaspatch stuff and I thought it was great.  I rigged it with .015 fishing line, it looked good to my eye so I went with it.  Oh I also realized it's very hard to photograph the rigging....

I did the center section first.....

Then I got the tops all connected.....

Got to tell you, this was a real character builder.  Now I just need to paint the guns, mount the bombs, and a few other details, touch up here and there, a few lines need another coat of paint......got to keep going, nose to the grindstone, the end is in sight!

Just have to say again what an amazing build this is and the rigging looks great - you are in the home-stretch now!

++++1!
Absolutely beautifully done Zavod! Your finish is wonderfully "clean" yet she looks used. The rigging is the neatest job I think I've seen here, a real compliment to your patience and particularly your skills. I hope you will be entering her in a few contests, the quality of work and magnificent results are Gold Medal material!
I'm really looking forward to the Completed Model photos, take your time as you ease over the finish line.
Cheers,
Lance

Hello Zavod:

This is outstanding work you have here.  The weathering of the bombs is quite realistic.  Can you explain how you did the "Y" rigging?  Your rigging is truly outstanding and one of the hurdles I have to overcome if I ever do another Gotha.
Thanks

Mark

I needed a stand to elevate the kit closer to my face  :) :), what better than that huge box  ;).   Give me a few days and I'll explain how I did the "Y" brace, I had to put some thought into it.  As I am no expert I had to do some experimenting.  But I was very happy with the result.  I can tell you it's the fine easy line.......
