BTW, once we had a custom of mini-group-builds at one of Polish forums. Such thing was started when at least four build threads on the same topic were started. It seems we just have four running now!

That's why I asked, Prez. How did the plane make it to the Kraków museum? A Freikorpsplane from the post WW1 fightings in Upper Silesia? Or Beute from WW2?

WW2 trophy, as far as I know.

The cockpit is gorgeous. The colors are crisp and beautiful, with just enough weathering and shading.

Good grief, Prze, every time I decide to try one of your builds
you start another.  To say you are a prolific modeler is a huge
understatement, but it is a real bonus to learn from one of the

Many thanks for your kind words, gentlemen.

The modelling continues...
I have closed the fuselage and added the MG cables as per The Red Baron's build  ;)



Then I started with Mercedes D.III. At the beginning I was tempted to build it almost out of the box and shamelessly cover the missing bits it with cowling. But then I had a glimpse at my Albatros and realised that I would never forgive myself, if I had not tried to detail this engine again (most probably for the last time!). So here it goes:

The holes for the Taurus's valve springs and spark plugs drilled:




The springs are in:



This time I decided to use Taurus set "Easy to paint" with the rocker mechanism in separate pieces (19 elements instead of one). I almost regretted this decision but finally I got it assembled:



And to end the day, I have added the spark plugs and tubes for electric wires ( I have managed to break one of these, the keen-eyed can probably tell which one it is).

Put there during WW2 to prevent any bomb damage and stayed there after the war. The Roland was originally on display at the Zeughaus in Berlin, afaik. I think to remember that information came from Windsock International Volume 26/something, describing the build of WNW's model. If you need to know, I can check during the next days.

Isn't it?  ;) I am so proud of it!  ;)

The engine is basically completed, only some grime to finish it. (BTW, the merciless macro-photography revealed some flaws in the paint and disconnected spark plugs... already corrected) I have added electric wires, air pump pipes, carb and magneto control mechanisms. The control rods/cables will be added after the engine is mounted






I have also added a fuel line which may just be visible when the engine gets installed.
