Eindecker,

Martin Hille (Kellerkind) has set up an online shop for our Needs: http://www.kellerkind-miniaturen.com/

Nice guy, good Service, terrific products.

Stefan

I agree completely re Martins service, sculpting, demeanor  and products! The painting of this figure you have done is really great! This figure is also a great beginners figure. NO FLESH TONES on the face to deal with!

For some kind of change I can report some progress (surprise, surprise!)

This is the kit's weak point: The engine, taken from the J.1-kit. It's easy to see the progress WNW has made since 2009, comparing he engine parts with the rest of that kit.

With hindsight I shoulkd have chased my assistent out of the hobby room and dusted off all those cat-hairs. Sorry...

The upper wing (lower side is supposed to be CDL)

Fuselage

The paintjob looks spectacularly overdone and failed (especially the ribs), but, I am strictly following the aircraft's photos in WNW's instructions. (What an excuse.) The Iron Crosses were crudely overpainted with some kind of dark green paint - this I did with a brush (as per original).

Exceptional paint work, Stefan, and that engine looks fantastic!

Thank you for your kind words.

I took another set of photos of the DFW's pilot, as the first set was out of focus.

Love your pilot figure. Would you consider a matt coat of varnish? The flying suit a tad shiny, perhaps?

The paint work on the aircraft looks very good and even though the engine is old it still makes up to be a really nice little model with a lot of added details, love your pilot figure.

Friends,

following alenghty phase of surgeries and recuperation times (to get fit enough for the next surgery), I recovered enough to spend some time with my DFW. Rather hard if you are only able to sit at the modelling bench for some minutes per day...

The gunner is a figure by Wings (from the LVG set), the anemometer the Gaspatch one.

The propellor was coloured with pencils and will receive a spinner cab later on.

Now it's time for the next break in modelling, for some time, unfortunately. If I will ever finish the fuselage's rigging, the weathering will begin. WNW's photos show a very much used and worn aircraft. Many opportunities to mess everything up.

Regards,
Stefan

Great progress, Stefan. I am still being tempted by this kit, the Polish version is calling. I am hesitating and builds as yours are very likely to change the balance.
BTW, I wish you a quick recovery and (not the most important, but well desired) return to the modelling bench with full strength!

Stefan,
Sorry to hear of your ongoing operations! I hope you are near the end of your ordeal! Your DFW just gets better and better. Lovely paint work, markings application, and the observer figure is awesome!
