I am impressed. How do you plan to do the large Lozenge area? Do you have some masks you will be using?

Hi!

I've not decided yet... I have a Silhouette CAMEO for cutting vynil and other materials to use as masks so maybe I'll use that.
or I can trace the lozenge on the fuselage and mask them with tape.
The idea is to spray all with masks, then I'll try to free hand spray the contour of the bigger ones to make them "soft", like you see ont he real plane.
It will be a nice challenge  :o

Hi!

Good progress last week.

I've painted the PE seat belts and I draped one over the pilot seat to break up the simmetry.

The finished cockpit

and finally the cockpit is inside the fuselage. No fitting problems Wink - ;)

The instructions say to add the engine before closing the fuselage, but can be done also later, so I preferred to leave the engine aside and finish it until I'll have painted thefuselage.

That's all. Now Ive to smooth the joint of fuselage and start to plan the lozenges painting .

Beautiful work on that interior! The belts look awesome. Now that the fuselage is all closed up I am looking forward to seeing the rest of the build!

Hi!

The fun (?) begins   :D

Time to paint!

First I've covered the fuselage with the lighest color.
Then I've traced with a pencil the pattern and marked the various color of each section.
The lozenges on the aft part of the fuselage where hard edged while the others where soft-edged (I think that they used a stencil for the aft part), so I've masked the hard edged lozenges while the others will be airbrushed free hand.

(I've photoshopped the images to let you see better the pencil lines)

as you can see I've also tried to hand paint one of the sections, but I didn't like the result.

The masking on the central wing section and tailplane:

The result after the first color

I had some problems with the paint mixing (you can see some spitting in the freehand section) , but is the first color, so there's time to correct things.
Anyway I'm satisfied with this first step. Now I've to repeat for the other 3 colors (violet, blu and dark green) ... and then make the same thing with different colors for the under surfaces  :o

Bye!

Andrew, will you put a light overcoat of blue paint on top of your fuselage lozenge, afterwards?

No,

As you can see from the real plane picture this aircraft was not oversprayed.

Turning into an outstanding piece of Modeling! All of that masking has to be difficult but I am sure the results will be worth the effort!
