WNW Hannover Cl.II 1/32 "White 4"
« on: August 11, 2014, 11:51:20 PM »
Hi!

Time to build Another WnW kit.

This Time I've decided to build the Hannover Cl.II, mainly for the challenge of painting the Fuselage logenzes  :P

I'll build this one

As aftermarket items I'll use Wood&Wire Lozenges and Gaspatch Turnbuckles.

let's start with cockpit as usual.
Before painting the wood I've masked and sprayed the fuel tank, because the masking over the oil paint would be tricky

Some chipping done with maskol. I'll decide later if is too much, and in case is easy to correct with some grey paint.

Oils applied over a Sand color acrylic base

Some details added (no shading or wethering yet)

The kit has some molded fuel lines details. I deleted them and replaced with copper wire.
The glossy spots that you see are from clear paint used to fix the wires and they will be corrected with some clear overspray.

Same work on fuselage

Now, will I wait for oils to dry I'll start covering the wing. In the next post...

bye

Andrew

It's coming along nicely Andrew. I'm looking forward to seeing how you tackle that lozenge.

Cheers,

Chris

Now the Wood&Wire decals

Some comparison with kit decals

looks good, but can you spot the error ?  ::)  Later we'll see...

prepared the wings: white base and then gloss clear

Cut the decals from support ( before this you have to spray a clear cote over them)

And apply! No problem , they are delicate, but with a little attention they look good and conform very well to details   :)

Now the aileron.. and guess what? 2 Left undersurface aileron decals and no right ones!!  >:(

I've used Some spares decals that I had, they are a little darker, but will be on the underside and they could be an aileron covered with another fabric batch  ::)

I was a little disappointed  with this error. Nobody tested the decals before selling???  ???

Anyway , that's all for now.

Bye

Andrew

Hello AndrewS:

You are doing a great job on the interior pieces and the lozenge work.   I like the W&W lozenge with the fabric detail as well.  Looks good so far.  This is a scheme on my list and I will be following to see how you manage to do it.  You're under the "microscope".  ;)

Best

Absolutely convincing work on the wooden parts.

I agree, the fact that you have two left aileron decals but none for the right side is disappointing. Maybe contacting W and W with this problem might be of any help?

Very nice work Andrew; your decal work is really done well and your wood grain and interior detail superb. I'd leave the fuel tank as is...........it is very convincing.

What a super start Andrew. This is shaping up beautifully. I can't wait to see how you handle the fuselage lozenges.

Best wishes

This is one of those Rocket Starts! Beautifully done wood and the tank looks excellent to me. Also the Lozenge looks to be applied very nicely! Outstanding Start to say the least!!!

Most excellent start so far Andrew . I would be disappointed as well with the lozenge decals .

Great start there! Love this scheme - it is the one I would like to do also but am not sure how I could effectively pull off the fuselage loz....

Excellent beginning, Andrew.  Pity about the aileron loz, but you recovered beautifully.

Great start, Andrew!  Your woodgrain and fuel tank are both superb.  Your work
on the lozenge is really well done, despite the printing error. I look forward
to the next updates.

Cheers,
Ernie :)
