My latest streaking project. WNW Fokker DVII. I used a different Mixture of Oils this time. Prussian blue and burnt umber. Some was applied pre mixed and some in the form of dots blended together. All applied over an acrylic beige base. I used my usual damp flat brushes to remove unwanted pigment.

Spectacular results, as always, Amigo!  I know I must sound like a broken record, but I think this is my favorite.
Cheers,
Bud

Absolutely stunning work Rick, this finish is just plain spectacular. I scrolled way back to the beginning when you started this thread and the improvement in the effect is remarkable, nice work!

Hi all,

Iíve been asked to add to this thread after my Meng Fokker Dr.I build. Just to demonstrate an alternative method of streaking.

I started off by painting the wings linen or any light beige shade to taste,

I then angled the wing across my cutting mat to the degree of slant required, fixed into place with Blu-Tack then used a steel rule an inch or so above the wing as a guide for the airbrush - using the parallel lines on the mat as a guide. But, I found this didnít work so well on the kit wings. Because of the airfoil shape it didnít produce dead straight lines, so I ended up doing them freehand but still with the wing fixed and using the mat lines as a guide again - starting well off the wing and finishing well over the other side. It looks like different colours, but itís in fact the same MRP RAF Dark Green but just varying the intensity of the lines in sections.

I gradually built up the streaking effect. I limited the needleís movement rearwards so I didnít get a Ďsplurgeí of paint and used a low pressure setting.

Simple really!

Excellent results and thanks for adding this method to the thread! I am going to experiment on an old wing and see if I can do te basics your way and perhaps do just a tad with a brush. Again thanks for posting this beauty!
