Well Squiffy,
First the Dolphin. Stunning work on this limited run kit. Looks terrific!
And now for the Mega Man Modeler award, the Avro! Just super work in such a short time frame!

Great work on the Dolphin Squiffy but I especially like the Avro 504.

The speed which you build these models is amazing in itself, but the results are really excellent. The Avro looks very impressive and not at all like a kit from the mid 1960's.

Thanks for the kind words. The AVRO came out much better than I expected for such an old kit.

Here's one I made earlier - just before I joined the forum. I'd finished it as far as I could then but at the time I didn't do rigging, so this is the second model I've posted where I've gone back and re-painted and rigged it.

Airfix's 1957 R.E.8.

Very nice model and your diorama and photography are top shelf, but my, what a homely airplane. It looks like it has a broken back and was designed to use a coal fueled engine. Makes the Be2 look positively sleek. Where the crews found the courage to even get in the thing, let alone fly it in combat, escapes my imagination.

Considering that this was one of Airfix's earliest releases (from 1957 if my memory is correct), you have amide a first class job of this. My heartiest congratulations.

Rob H.: Those machines may have looked primitive but in fact they ware very robust and stable and much more difficult to shoot down than popular myth suggests. In fact if flown well they could give a good account of themselves in the air - unlike their BE2 predecessors.

This was one of those projects that started with a rush of enthusiasm, which died out and cause it to be left on the shelf for some time. Then, a couple of weeks ago, I got all fired up to make the decals and finish it. Details can be found here: http://forum.ww1aircraftmodels.com/index.php?topic=3726.0

Truly spectacular, Squiffy!  Brilliantly done. I'm going to have to work up the nerve to give this a try on one of my Camels.
Cheers,
Bud
