Fokker E.II 69/15 Kurt von Crailsheim WNW
« on: February 15, 2014, 10:13:51 AM »
In December I got for my birthday model WNW Fokker E.II / EIII Early. By the way, I bought the next Fokker D.VII (OAW).

The hero of my story is E.II Fokker flown by Kurt von Crailsheim.
Wingnut Wing proposes 5 versions of painting, in the beginning I planed to make a model version E.III Ernst Udet (62 victories), but when I saw the Fokker Kurt von Crailsheim (one win) was enchanted me speedometer placed on the wing and I decided, it will be E . II. in this painting.

Model and literature looks like this:

and of course I have some photos found on the web.
As you can see engine will be  from the Taurus.

Now some photos from the building the model.

Trial assembly of the fuselage.  :)

To be continued.

Adam.

This is a great start Adam, I like the colour you used for the fuselage frames and your fuselage frame bracing wires look excellent.

Nice, clean job, Adam! I especially like the rigging with turnbuckles.

Yes, Adam, a very nice start. Is that green framing colour your own mix?

Best wishes

Thank you my friends.
Nigel, it isn't my own mix, it is Tamiya interior grey-green XF76. This color suggest WNW. Usually I'm using Livecolor, but here I can't find replacement from this paints.

Excellent start, Adam.  The wire bracing on the frame looks very good.  Good choice
on the paint scheme.  I look forward to your next updates.

Cheers,
Ernie :)

nice start adam, i know you will make us proud. as far as speedometer on the wing i think it is maybe a compass on the wing. many eindeckers have this.

Thank you again for yours opinions.
Albatros1234 this airplane which was flying by Crailsheim don’t  have compass.

Small progress with cockpit.

Belts are from HGW, I made it first time. I think it was good idea to buy HGW set.
I decided to somewhat improve the oil pulsator.

And mounted on the instrument panel.

Cockpit almost is ready.

Time for tension of the rigging.

And now cockpit is ready.  ;D

Small test of painting "Machine ’turned’ aluminium cowl"  according WNW Hints & Tips

In reality it looks better, but I have to practice this painting.
And a few photos from the trial assembly of the cockpit in the fuselage.
In my opinion it looks good.  :)

now time to finish because my chocolate lab calls for an evening stroll.  :)
