Hi Friends,
this is my Dr I (1:32 Roden), Jasta 5 May 1918, finished last year. It´s part of a dio now displayed  at Rechlin, Luftfahrttechnisches Museum. The tent,  and other aeroplanes are built by our forum member Malaula (a master in diorama modeling…)

Aviattik streaking decals

personal markings handmade

an axial prop from a WNW kit, prop boss cut off from Roden´s prop

cheers

Jörg

Very impressive build Jorg! This is perhaps the best use of the Aviattic decals I have seen. Can you tell us about how you darkened some of the streaks? Looks as though you painted over portions?

Yes Rick, I'd be interested to know that additional streaking effect to,

As a Matter of Fact perhaps you could add your use of the decals to the Fokker Streaking show us your method thread in hints and tips section?

Rick and Mike, you are right - some additional dark color by airbrush and streaks by a flat brush  (oil colors)

Kind regards
Jörg

Hi Jorg:
Thanks - an interesting method I'll need to try next time I 'streak' an Fokker.

Rick:
My DR.1 was an experiment using 'DecoArts' crafters acylics (water based).
I used their Light Antique White as the base coat, then applied the streaking using their Forest Green and Hunter Green, all applied by brush.
The overall effect wasn't too bad, but nowhere near as good as the since released 'Aviattic' decals and especially Jorg's use of after effects,

Beautiful model and display, and the enhanced 'streaking" is very impressive! Great Tripe!

Thank you for your kind comments!

And two more Dreidecker from the time before Aviattik decals. These are the 1:48 Dragon kits, built at least 2o years ago. Streaking was made from acrylics, applied with a flat brush

Very nice Tripes. Your Roden build is excellent. What was the streaking method on that one?

Hi Steve,
Streaking method on the Roden Tripe was Aviattik decals with additional airbrushing and oil colors applied by a flat brush

Here's my Roden (1/32) Fokker Tripe.  Josef Jacobs mount, complete with CSM Clerget engine.  The graphic on the side of the fuse is taken from an enhanced photo of Jacobs' plane.
