Just catching up - hmm maybe kits arent your thing - ever considered scratchbuilding?.......Great work and your skills show thru on a poorer kit.

Thanks guys for all your words of encouragement.

I have painted the wings and they are now ready for decals. The decals in the photo are for show only, these are cut from the kit decal sheet which I will not be using, they are very poor quality so I have made my own and will be using them. The decals on the rudder are my own home made variety. I have temporarily fitted wheels from my spares box to save any damage occuring to the spoke wheels while I am handling the model. The propeller is the kit proeller, again only there for photo purposes, it will be replaced with a Doug Craner wood propeller.

Des.

Looks like a flying Silk Purse to me, Des!  ;)  You've done very well with the beast.  ;D  Congratulations on persevering, and creating a beautiful model of an interesting early aircraft.

Regards,

Bob

Blimey Des! I'm really pleased that you persevered and are taking us on another voyage of discovery. But what an odd looking thing the MB bis was. How could that back end work in aerodynamic terms?

Best wishes
Nigel

It's looking fantastic imho.

Your skills and persistence are showing once again thru what you achieved with such a hard model.

Cheers

Hello Des,

What another great job you have done here. You really can make any kit to a wonderful plane. Really amazing. I'm so glad you didn't threw it away. Another great build for your collection knowing what you have been through.

Kind regards
Patrick

I admire the decals done by you.
The rest of the model also looks great.

Adam.

I am now calling this model finished, I completed the rigging today. I applied my home made decals as the kit decals were useless. I did have fun building this kit but I would not recommend it to anyone except those who like a challenge and like to do some scratch building. This is definitely not one of my better builds and one that I am not proud of, but I did the best I could with what was supplied.

Des, I don't know how you could not be proud of the model.  You have
done wonderfully with a less-than-ideal kit.  I think it is a terrific job!

Cheers,
Ernie :)

Are you kidding, Des?!  The final result is remarkable, especially considering what you started with.  You nailed the cdl color.  It is decidedly Russian.  The home made decals are brilliant.  The engine and cockpit detailing are your usual superb work.  All in all, I would be more proud of such excellent results from such a shabby kit, than I would excellent results from a WNW kit.  Congratulations on a job very well done.
Cheers,
Bud

I'd put money on it being the best 1:32 MB bis out there, especially having seen what you had to start with!
Very nice job turning a pig's ear into a silk purse!

You should absolutely be proud of this one Des. Starting from  -50% and taking it up to +100%, few could be doing that. It is really a very nice looking model. Many congratulations!

Kind regards
Patrick

The result is excellent. It may well be the best MB from this kit ever made. You just showed again that you are an excellent modeller. I do like your scratch build projects very much, especially the Caudron and in this MB it shows too.

Ivo
