The machine guns seem to be a bit out of alignment. Is this a mistake or is this like the real Triplane?

You are doing a really great job, Patrick.  Aside from a little tweaking here
and there, it is a dandy model.  If you are bugged by the little space you
mentioned with the top cover, you could fill it, rescribe and touch up the paint...
no biggie. :)  Keep up the good work, my friend, you are making grand progress!

Cheers,
Ernie :)

Yes Stefan a mistake. I had a lot of trouble fixing the second machine gun and had even to file the support a little.

Thank you Ernie for your continued encouragements, they really mean a lot to me. I'll see what I can do about the gap. Thank you a lot my friend!

Kind regards

Patrick,
First, the photo of the jig you made for the proper installation of the undercarriage is excellent. I will be replicating your method when I install mine very soon, brilliant work!
For the gap on the cockpit decking I had a similar problem on a previous Build of the Roden Fokker DRI. I solved it by removing the decking, building it up a bit with styrene strips, and refinishing and then re-installing it. If you can remove the decking/closure that might work for you.
Nice work so far, I'll be following your progress as I'm only a few steps behind you on the same Build.
Cheers,
Lance

Thank you so much Lance. Indeed a few steps behind, but a few buildings higher in quality!. These styrene strips are they being glued upon it or ??? Are they easy to cut and must they be warmed up? I never worked with that material before.
The best of luck with your beautiful tripe!

Kind regards
Patrick

Looking great, Patrick!  I'm sure that you intend to trim up that rudder a bit, so I won't mention it.  :o :-X

Bud

Patrick,
I use a styrene product from "Evergreen", they manufacture a line of styrene products ranging  from sheets to rods and strips. It started, I believe, as a product for Model Railroad enthusiasts however I see it referenced here as well. It, or a similar line, should be available at most Hobby Stores. In lieu you could use scrap from your spares box or even sprue. All you need do is glue on your extended profile, fill and sand to the new profile you want, and you should be in business. Assuming you can remove the cowling it's a lot easier then filling the present gap and maintains the separate "panels" on your model. I'll dig around today and see if I have a photo or two that might help.
Cheers,
Lance

Patrick,
I did have the photos, should have looked first and included them in my previous.
Problem was the same as you are having, I had a gap between the top cowling and the fuselage. You can see the white extended portion I added by gluing a strip on, then sanding and filling, then repainted . This one is slightly different in that it actually fits over the fuselage joint, it's not a flush fitting as on the Tripe but it should solve the problem.

.....and here on the finished product.

I hope this is of some help.
Cheers,
Lance

Thank you very much Bud. Indeed the decals on the rudder needs to be cleaned up. Some parts came of by itsself so it wont be very difficult.

Thank you so much Lance. I see what I can do about it and if I can remove the cowling. Your color looks great. It will be a magnificent tripe!

Kind regards

Hello all,

I finally completed my first ever model. Not brilliant of course and many imperfections. The first wing installation and wing-rigging. I owe a lot to the build logs of Prez, Mark, Des and Chris. Thank you all! The rigging wires are painted with a mixture of steel and alu color. The eyelets and tubes are from Bob von der Buckelheim because I never had the proper spring steel to produce them properly myself. Bob’s eyelets are great. Thank you to all my friends who showed this kind interest in my build and gave me encouragement and advice. Lance, I will try to retighten the cockpit closing afterwards. I will never be an excellent modeler, I started much to late but I am enjoying it and like to be on the forum a lot. I am still looking too for a proper setup for the foto’s.
Thank you for stopping by.

Kind regards
Patrick

Patrick,
It's a very nice Model and given it's your first it's doubly impressive. It's all about the challenge and enjoyment; your next one will better and the trend will continue. When I started my 1:32 collection a little over two years ago I had been modelling off and on for over 60 years, and the first, an Albatros DIII is horrible compared to my last, number six to date! It's a very "steep improvement curve" which I know you'll enjoy, each project seems to be better then the last. Last, I'm always amazed at how much I learn daily from this Site despite many years in the Hobby.
Again, enjoy your projects above all else; when the hobby becomes a stress point something's been lost, probably the fun of it all! There are a number of world class Model Builders on this Site; I'll never be as good as they are but the enjoyment's in the trying! ;)
Well done and congratulations on a beautiful finish.
Cheers,
Lance

Congratulations Patrick, on a very well done Tripe.  You really should be
proud of what you accomplished.  The paint is first-rate, your PC12 being
in my estimation just right.  I enjoyed your build log and hope to see more
of your talents again soon, my friend!  Any thoughts on your next project?

Cheers,
Ernie :)

Patrick,
You should be very proud of your Sopwith Tripe.
I know that I would be  ;)  Given that this is your first (of many, I hope!) model you have done extremely well - good for you!

Thanks for your kind words regarding my weeeee eyelets - It makes it all worth while when fellow modellers enjoy using them  :)

Cheers,
Von Buckle

Congratulations, Patrick!  She's beautiful and as Lance said, your skills will improve dramatically with each subsequent project.  I've enjoyed following your progress, my friend, and very much look forward to you next.  Have you decided on what it will be?
Cheers,
Bud
