Hi my fellow forumites. ;)  I'm finally nearing the end of M. Guynemer's kite.

At last look, about all I had to tackle was the undercarriage, so theres where we start.
after assembling, I used thick thread to simulate the bungee cords on the axle ends.

I noticed in photos of the Nieuport 17 that the undercarriage legs had metal braces where
they attached to the fuselage, so I tried to replicate that with thin bits of brass sheet...

Man I hate macro shots...all the horrible bits pop out at you! >:( :-[ ;D
Anyway, here's how she sits on her wheels.

Pardon the toothpick...oops. :-[ ;D
So that's about all the actual building done.  I still have do a couple of little touch-ups
here and there, so I will pop in later with that, and then I guess I'll be able to declare her
finished. :D Looking forward to that.
Still looking for decals for the lower wings without any joy as yet, but will plod on with that.
So that is where we stand right now...

As I mentioned, I will have one more little update when I finish my tid-bitting. ;) ;D
Thanks for looking!

Cheers,
Ernie :)

Truly marvellous Ernie. The plane is a pleasure to look at and the undercarriage looks very convincing. You should be very proud of this one Ernie. Congratulations.

Very kind regards

Patrick

Ernie, The brackets on the gear are very nice! A detail I would have missed!! Your Nieuport has really turned out well and I have enjoyed following the thread!

Ernie, this build is looking very good. I really like the shading on the wings. The entire kit has a very nice presentation actually.
 Well done.

Bob, Rick, Mike and Zabu, thanks so much for your kindness.  The build
is almost done and was on the whole very enjoyable...I like this 1/32 business! ;D
Funny thing, as this comes to a close, it starts you thinking of starting the
next.  Habit forming, these models. ;) ;D

Cheers,
Ernie :)

Well done, Ernie. It's really satisfying getting the undercarriage rigged to find how much strength it gives to the structure, eh?

Looking forward to the final update.

Thanks for the support, Lindsay.  You are right about the rigging adding a surprising amount
of strength to the plane.

So here we are at the end of the line.  This is the final update, my friends.
I added a mirror that I scratched together.  It's just aluminum foil cemented to a thin
plastic disk.  The rim is a HGW bezel.  I didn't have anything to tell me where to mount it,
so I made an educated guess and put it on the edge of the upper wing, centred over the
windscreen.

My dilemma to do with the wrecked lower wing decals has been solved.  I had some decals
from a Eduard 1/72 Nieuport 17 kit available.  It dawned on me that the large decals for the
teeny scale would not be far off for the small markings needed for my 1/32 Nieuport. ;)
I applied them and they don't look too bad. :D

About the only other thing I did was to sirty up the wheels and undercarriage a little
with some Tamiya weathering powders.  Unfortunately I couldn't get a photo that shows
it properly.
So that's about it, mes amis.  I will be posting my final photos in the completed section
tomorrow.  Thank you everyone for following along and providing such welcomed support.
It has been very much appreciated! :)

Cheers,
Ernie :)

Very nicely done Ernie. The undercarriage brackets and mirror are very nice touches and the dreaded bungee replication looks great as well. Looking forward to the "Completed Models" photos. Beautiful Build.

Lance

Ernie,

This is a very good build and I enjoyed reading how you overcame the decal challenges.  You really stayed with it and produced a winner.

She looks very smart Ernie, and well done with the decal save, the mirror is in a very appropriate position and looks really good. I look forward to seeing the photos in the completed model board.
