Ernie,
Good to see your Nieuport is now a biplane! Apparently there were no issues regarding the dihedral on the lower wings as you thought?

Thanks Des and Rick! Since I reversed the front cabanes I was able to sand
them down about 1mm, which helped a lot as far as reducing the interplanes gap
was concerned.  I will find out later if the glue held. ;)

Cheers,
Ernie :)

Hi Ernie,

Really a great build. I like this plane very much. I'm glad I purchased it, but when I see the difficulties of fixing the upper wing, and the troubles I already  had with the SE5a of WnW, I think I will wait quite a while to start on this one. Many congratulations Ernie it's a beauty!

Kind regards

Patrick

Thanks for the support, Patrick.  Don't let the top wing worry you.  Actually it went
on without any trouble at all. In fact, the whole aeroplane goes together very well.
It is an excellent model for starting into 1/32 scale.  It is pretty basic, for sure, but
is really easy to improve on.  It's one of those "if I can do it, anyone can!" ;) ;D
If there is a down side to this one, It's the decals, which are a pain, but with patience
and some mutterings they can be made to behave...sort of. ;) ;D

Cheers,
Ernie :)

Another day, another bit of progress.  Actually mes amis, it is a fair bit of
progress this time.  I have installed the upper wing, which wasn't much trouble
at all, and most of the rigging.  I still have a few wires to install when the
undercarriage is complete, and some of the turnbuckles need a little fine tuning :-[,
but it's coming along quite well, all things considered. :D
Here's some photos to show what's up.  Please forgive the horrid photography...not
my strength and I was a bit rushed. :-[ ;)

...And one of the underside.  I think I will hold the weathering where it is...I worry about
going overboard...which I probably have already! ;D

You may notice a couple of bare patches where the small cockades were.  I made the mistake
of forgetting about the decals when I was using some tape and managed to remove both decals
clean as can be. :-[ >:(  Sometimes I wonder where my mind went! ;D  So I guess I will have
to gain some experience painting circles.  This should be interesting! ;) ;D
So that is where we stand so far.  I will be working on the undercarriage next and then finish
the rigging, so watch this space, as they say.
Thanks for looking, and a big merci for the kind support you all have shown!

Cheers,
Ernie :)

It's looking better from update to update Ernie.

When i started to watch the pics the fisrt thing that came to my mind was... wow. The colours are nicely balanced for the scale imho, and the weathering it's perfect.

That Ni it will be a jewel.

Cheers

Great work Ernie!  She's lookng very trim and beautiful. I really like this particular French scheme, combining the aluminum doped fuselage wth the earth camo wings.  Very well done!

It's been fun building the Roden Ni.27 in tandem with your Academy Ni.17 build.  There were some problematic similarities! ;)  I have the Academy kit and will use your thread as a guide.  Thanks!

Bob

Ernie,

Almost there now ............. coming together beautifully.  Just a shame about pulling the decals away, although I have no doubt you overcome this one.

Dave

Thanks Dave & Rick.  The decal trouble is a pain, but since it's a minor problem
I am going to concentrate on finishing the build, seeing I'm so close.  Then I can
figure what to do about the markings. :)  Thank goodness they are in a spot not
usually noticed. ;) ;D

Cheers,
Ernie :)

Your Nieuport is looking beautiful Ernie, the rigging has turned out well and you have just the right amount of weathering. Sorry to hear about the decal issue but I'm sure you will be able come to a solution.
