Wow also just found this build - really interesting subject choice and the wood grain fuselage looks very nice indeed!

Very interesting subject, with the unusual engine installation and its general size.
I have no experience with building resin kits yet and I do have a few warped ones. I always wondered how the heating technique would work.
If someone could make it work it's probably you Tim. I'll keep watching the G.I come to life with great interest!

Wow Tim. That's looking great.
We were chatting at the show yesterday about this model being built and I can't recall ever seeing one before - each stage gets more exciting  8)

Paul

Thanks Paul. I can?t say I?ve seen this built before either. Only the one completed model images when I search the net. It?s been a lot of fun so far.

Holy Moly!  I just now found this! That's some beautiful wood-grain work for the scale. I'm still trying to get a handle on it. You've succeeded greatly here. Looking forward to the rest of it.

Warren

Thank you Warren. It looks great to the eye but man, when you zoom in it looks pretty bad!

That looks like a lot of work on the fuselage seam but it's turned out really well. Super work on the wood grain, the whole build continues to look amazing. Please keep going!

I always am reluctant to put such delicate resin in scalding water. Seems like I would retrieve a melted mess!  I have done this several times now with excellent success. Most have remained straight for several years as well. Only two kits have drooped wings over time.  I hope you do try one out. They are not as intimidating as they seem.

Thanks,
Tim

Thanks Nigel.  I?ll finish this one. I like to see a project through once I start it. No partial build ?Shelf Queens? in my stash! Lol

Home run on the fuselage, I'm sure the tail and wings will look great as well.
Thanks,
Allan Buttrick

Part 5.  Wing works

I began assembling the three part upper and lower wings as well as the tail flying surfaces. The main wings have small resin pegs and holes in the mold for attachment points. I don?t feel that they would be of sufficient strength to hold it together so I added brass rod attachments. A little filler was required at the seams

Next I primed them with Tamiya white rattle can primer.

Then I began cleaning up the tail parts and primed them. I added brass attachment pins to these parts as well. I had to take care when making the attachment point holes in the fuselage because of the unusual elevator design.

After priming, I masked the main wing spars and painted them and the lower surfaces a dark brown color. I then drew in the wing spars with an orange Posca paint pen. Finished with penciled in support wires

Tomorrow I will paint the first coat of Vallejo aged white over the upper surfaces

I also added the tail skid and repainted the (now what I believe to be) underside fuel tank a grey green color.

Thanks for looking in!

Tim

You are a brave man Tim. I have Choroszy Modelbud's Caproni CA3. The bags of resin bits are very daunting to me.

Your build will absolutely help me to gather enough courage to start building it one day.

This is stunning work you show here especially the paintwork. And in this scale!

Cheers,

Willem
